He's just gonna hand the dog to her. Literally; just puts the animal right into her arms. It likes her better, anyway — to nobody's surprise, really, dogs are a great judge of character.
Before I can explain to you why Faith Seed was found unconscious, face down in the Henbane River this afternoon, you’ll need to know a few things.
The First Thing you’ll need to know is that before Faith Seed was found among the unwashed masses, she was an avid fan of both narcotics and hallucinogenics, man made and naturally occurring, respectively. She’d experimented with highs and lows the human body and mind scarely approach naturally. Ever rarely still approaching such heights and depths in such a small time frame.
FOUR YEARS is quite a short time to be as high as she was before she fell…
I tell you this as a cautionary tale, but also to inform- or rather, remind you, that Faith had known pleasures and vices unspeakable and still lived to tell the tale.
The Next Thing you’ll need to know is that Faith Seed, though blessed with the honor of being Joseph’s Herald, and delighted to do so where once she felt her soul was being strangled, is often fondly reminiscent of Mortal Sin.
VANITY chiefest among them. She misses Social Media.
There was nothing more comforting in the depths of a K-Hole than a scroll through blogs with ratings for pets she’d never own, or flipping through cooking tutorials for meals and delicacies she’d never eat. Her brothers have provided her with so much, and though she thought her heart FULL… her eyes still linger on digital screens before they fall to the wayside in The Bliss.
She is- or rather, she was remiss to tell John, the Digital Expert, about her feelings. Fearing a crooked demarcation of LUST across her arm.
The Last Thing you’ll need to know is that The Bliss, ever-changing and uniquely experienced as it is, is still rooted very deeply in psychedelic territory. What this means, for those yet to experience a psychedelic, is that the internal machinations of the mind determine the ‘course’ and ‘trajectory’ of the trip once imbibed. Happy thoughts become happier. Sad thoughts become sadder.
Faith has been in a perpetual trip of varying intensity for some time now, held afloat by the holy spirit, her own strengthening mental fortitude and the love and support of her brothers behind her. Her emotional range, though expanded, is often tempered by what she allows herself to experience. Perfectly curated so as to keep her heart warm and open, her arms wide and beckoning for those who seek paradise~
Faith was not expecting to see John today. Not as deep as she was into The Bliss, she didn’t expect to see anyone but her Angels, her God and her little friends…
So when John approached, seemingly from out of The Bliss itself, uncermoniously carrying a yipping, licking, adorable, beautiful golden winged pupper toward her arms, its safe to say she wasn’t expecting it and had not prepared for it.
It all happened so fast. It all happened SO fast, she doesn’t know when she got out of her seat, or when she started rolling down a soft hill with a dog bouncing around her, barking and licking at her as she tumbled. Admittedly, she does remember the faint cries of ‘FAITH, COME BACK!’ being yelled at her from THE BAPTIST, but she also very clearly remembers the dog pressing his cold nose to her own, and her heart stopping at the sensation…
Oh yes. Oh yes, that was it, wasn’t it? Her heart stopped. It’d been some time since her cardiac troubles, she was of the mistaken belief that it was simply euphoria. A drug-like state of adorable-induced arrhythmia that she’d be able to breathe her way through, like all the others, but alas?
She washed up in Holland Valley, dragged out of the water by a very upset Baptist in a very moist Prada Vest. Her face locked in an expression of sheer delight, her littlest angel nipping quietly at her cheeks to try and rouse her from her blissful slumber.
When she awoke, at the Seed Ranch, swaddled in a blanket and far removed from her dog friend, she found a box in her lap, and a bottle of water at her side. The Water was locally sourced, and laced with restorative herbs. A remedy she was familiar with, something she’d shared with her Brothers.
In the box, you ask? A fully charged iPhone, a dog’s leash, and a small note.
The phone has been specially modified. It can only receive signals, it can not send them out. You can browse, but you can’t post. The leash is for pre-approved walks. And perhaps imbibe less of your Bliss, dear sister. Save some for the masses.
She smiles. Something soft and weary. Her heart has had much excitement for the day, and she does hope she didn’t give him TOO big of a fright. It’ll be several minutes before she’s enough constitution to rise from her seat and endeavor to find a way back home. It’ll be ten minutes after that that she decides to avert North to visit her other Brother.
LUST. Though asexually motivated, still drove her… even after nearing death. She’d DUGS to give love to, and she would not be denied any longer.
