Repossess Me
drelliotbaldwin:
Elliot chuckled. âNo, starlets donât really have any sway with me, Mr. Nightingale. Iâm more attracted to the brainy types. The kind who know how to keep a man on his toes, if you know what I mean,â the surgeon admitted.
He followed Sam to the elevators, listening to the blond heir talk. It was no wonder the Nightingale family was at the very top echelons of society â they certainly had a way with words.
âWhat would I likeâŠâ Elliot repeated the question slowly, thinking it over. âItâs been a while since Iâve eaten anything but leftovers at home, but Iâm told that, psychologically, the second option someone gives is the option they want themselves. So letâs go with Greek. Iâm quite partial to pastitsio, after all.â
The doors of the elevator let the two men out on the ground floor of the GeneCo building, and Elliot let Sam step out first to lead the way.
âSo where is this place? Walking distance, orâŠ?â Elliot knew it was a stupid thing to ask as soon as it came out of his mouth. Walking distance. Ha. That was not a phrase that people like Sam Nightingale ever said, he guessed. There was probably a car waiting for them just outside.
âGood choice.â He couldnât help but feel relief at the choice. Sam had been craving a well-made gyro all morning. âBut Iâm afraid itâs a bit out of the way. A friend of mine owns a hole-in-the-wall restaurant on the other side of town... and I donât fancy walking that far in these shoes.âÂ
He proceeded to poke a bit of fun at Elliot, a grin forming on his lips as he flirted. It was getting hard for Sam not to grin whilst around the surgeon. âLooks like youâll just have to get used to being chauffeured around, Baldwin.â
Sam opened the glass door to the front of the building, holding it to let Elliot pass through. He let his eyes linger over the other manâs back as he passed before drifting downwards just a bit. It wasnât a long look, but it wasnât a short glance either. And he didnât exactly avert his eyes all too quickly when the surgeon turned around. So what if he was eyeing his employee? Elliot didnât seem to mind all that much. In fact, it seemed more like a game forming between the two of them -- a cat and mouse strategy where neither of them knew which role they were supposed to be playing yet.Â
All Sam knew was that at this point, he really shouldnât touch. Although... that was more of a guideline than a hard rule.Â
They approached the black car parked at the curb and Samâs driver opened the door for them to enter. âWeâre going over to Fifteenth Street,â he told the man before taking initiative and leading Elliot into the backseat of the car.
Sliding over and stretching out, Sam pulled his phone from his jacket pocket to send a quick text to the owner of the restaurant they were headed to. Once finished, he replaced it and turned to Elliot, watching his reaction to the situation carefully. He didnât know much about him aside from what heâd been told by the man himself and what had been unearthed in his background check. Deducing it was always Samâs favorite part, though, and he found himself absolutely fascinated by the brunette.Â
âTell me about yourself, Elliot,â Sam prompted, leaning back in his seat, legs falling open just the slightest touch as he relaxed. âDid you grow up here? What branch of surgery did you do?â He asked the questions almost rapid-fire, curious to hear the answers to them. âIâm sure youâve got a whole host of interesting stories living up in that brain of yours.â
âIf thereâs a bustle in your hedgerow Donât be alarmed now Itâs just a spring clean for the may queen Yes, there are two paths you can go by But in the long run Thereâs still time to change the road youâre onâ
âItâs just easier to shut yourself away, caring just leads to more hurt than the loneliness doesâ
âYou donât have to tell me twice,â Sam replied, glancing at Mar. âIâm not the one who likes to get attached. That would be my attention-seeking brother.â

âYou thought you were important? Idiot, cry until you drown for all I careâ
âI can keep you down here forever, tormenting you until you beg me for death, the most slow and painful death for you my dearâ
âThese scars will reopen, youâve made me do it before, and youâll make me do it againâ
âGet out, donât act like you care! I know you donât, how do I know youâre even real?? GET OUT!!!â
âIâm just nobody without alcohol and drugs, people love me when Iâm high and tripping over myself, they wouldnât love me like thisâ
âYouâre not who you used to be, I donât think who you are is who I need anymoreâ
âWorthless, canât you see it? Thatâs all I am!⊠Iâm sorryâ
âI already took the pills!! What can you do now??? Itâs too late!â
âJust one more shot and Iâll get clean, I promise, just one moreâŠâ
âYou didnât love me before, so why when I make myself bleed do you suddenly care??â
"Sam, that's not underwear. It's tissue paper."
Sam rolled over onto her stomach, a grin on her face. Her chin rested in her upturned palm. âSurely thatâs not a complaint.â

âNo. Merely an observation. But really, is that even fabric?â
âItâs fabric enough,â she shrugged. âBetter than nothing. âŠOr is it?â
âFabric enough,â he repeated with a chuckle and a small smile. âI find myself staring at it wondering if thereâs anything even keeping it in place if you stand up.â
"There's a little elastic," Sam replied, shifting herself so she was sitting on her knees to show him they wouldn't, in fact, fall off of her hips. A thumb hooked under the waistband to stretch them a half inch or so. "And ribbon. Don't worry, they're structurally sound. Flimsy, but sound."
"Sam, that's not underwear. It's tissue paper."
Sam rolled over onto her stomach, a grin on her face. Her chin rested in her upturned palm. âSurely thatâs not a complaint.â

dr-abel-gideon:
Abel squeezed his eyes shut as he became more than keenly aware of Samâs lips and her breath grazing his skin. He felt his heart suddenly start to race and breathing quickening along with it. âOh, no,â he fought to keep his voice from shuddering. âOh they didnât end with a fade to black, if thatâs what youâre wondering. Our camping in the back of that van ended with more than just a close cuddle session.â
âOh.â Sam hummed low in her chest, unable to keep a smirk from forming on her lips. The fingers in his shirt played lower along the hem, teasing the idea of exploring underneath without actually doing it yet. A long pause passed between them as Sam wrestled with the words she had been wanting to say for months and actually saying them aloud.
âAbel, I...â She swallowed thickly, trying to gather her thoughts, but they kept flowing out in an unfiltered mess. âI donât know if itâs the wine or the fact that Iâm pushed up against you without walkers breathing down our backs, but I really want to touch you right now.â As soon as the words left her, she brushed her nose back against his jaw and pressed her lips to his pulse point, kissing his overly warm skin.
