Men still have trouble recognizing that a woman can be complex, can have ambition, good looks, sexuality, erudition, and common sense. A woman can have all those facets, and yet men, in literature and in drama, seem to need to simplify women, to polarize us as either the whore or the angel.
The Room of Mirrors || Niela & Samaees & Bealish & Ream
The Mancer looked at the axe and then the crystalized fists of the other woman, before looking back at the axe again. How long would it take to kill her with that thing? Would she make it quick or let her suffer? No matter what, it would be painful, so Ream had to find a way not to die. She couldn’t take a fight with them, not while she was alone. Over the shoulders of the two Knights her eyes scanned the room - it was empty, expect the mirrors and those gave her a bad vibe. But maybe that was also just the presence of her enemies and the fact she was trapped with them.
They both asked her different questions and she decided to look at the blonde woman, tilting her head slightly to the side. “You know that makes no sense? I mean I don’t know about you, but for me it seems highly unlogical to set up a trap and walk into it. I don’t have a death wish.” Her gaze lingered on her just a few more moments longer, before she turned to the other woman. “And who are you?”
Niela was glad for Samaees’ company, even gladder when she used her Magic to create a pretty handy - nice pun - and awesome show. The crystalized fists made her a bit jealous. All she could do was generate a black force field, and that didn’t have much style. She had to admit the Mancer made a point. Clearly she too had no means of getting back to the door, and her eyes scanned the room visibly, probably searching for a way out.
She relaxed a bit. ‘I think we asked first, and it’s two to one, so I suggest you answer, and then we’ll decide whether we want to do the same,’ she said, finding renewed courage in the awesome strength of her companion. Also, her very hot companion. No time for feeling strangely attracted to people, Niela. Knight time. ‘so, I’ll ask again. Who are you?’
Though she lowered her stance, Samaees remained alert, her fist still covered in crystalline as she kept her eyes on the Mancer. “You clearly don’t know much about strategic maneuvers---especially those involving traps.” She commented quietly, though her voice was heard loud and clear. There were many reasons why one would walk into their own trap: one---in order to trick their opponent into thinking they had nothing to do with the trap since logically one wouldn’t waltz right into a trap of their making . . . or so others assume, two---in order to trigger specific parts of the trap that could only be activated personally by them, three---in order to lead their enemy to straight into their doom and make certain they don’t survive, and four---because they are so egoistical about their trap that they must witness it in action first hand.
But then again, there are does dumb enough to walk into their own trap . . . She didn’t look like a person stupid enough to do that so perhaps she was telling the truth.
The blonde glanced at her companion and almost smiled at the female’s sudden spunk surge. She shifted closer to her---making sure to stay out her axe’s range in the chance that she needed to suddenly attack---and looked at the Mancer expectantly. Who was she was a good start to things if this wasn’t her trap.
Begins in a Ditch |-| ft. Bane
“Well for starters it got me under a beautiful woman…”
“That being said… If you would be so kind.” He motioned to the lady to kindly get off of him.
Opting not to comment on his compliment, Samaees---feeling a tad bit mortified at forgetting that she was on top of him---shifted and quickly moved off of the male. “I would apologize for that but really, it was entirely your fault.”

Ream was used to traveling alone, so even though she was not the only Mancer going to Alcart, she kept to herself on the journey. It didn’t bother her and if she needed company, she knew how o find the others, however right now she prefered to be alone. This was she could take the time to sort out her thoughts - or at least try and right now, her mind was a mess.
Once she arrived the city, it was clear they were not alone. Knights. The elf didn’t hesitate, immediately she went to find someone. They had to do something, this was not good. Definitely not good. Maybe a trap? She run through the streets, when she heard the noises doming from the market house. With caution she approached, opening the door to look. It took her only seconds to realize, those were definitely not the people she was looking for, but before she could turn and leave the door closed behind her. A look over her shoulder told her, that it not just closed, but completly disappeared. “Damn…” Not good. Now she was not just trapped, but she was trapped with her enemy.
‘Break them?’ Niela called surprised. Okay, Samaees looked kind of cool, and she was clearly somewhat of a fighter, which had been why Niela had been persistent in teaming up with her, but breaking all the mirrors seemed a bit odd. Then again, she had no idea what to do herself. A sound from behind her shook her back into action, her mind and body spun around to find a red haired individual at the door. It was clear from the black standard uniform, the leather and mail, that this woman was not on their side. She grabbed for her axe, and gave the Mancer a wary look.
‘Who are you?’ she demanded, though her voice probably trembled horribly. She wasn’t much for brave antics, but she was glad to have the support of an other Knight in this situation.
Samaees only shrugged in answer. Was it strange that she wanted to shatter all the mirrors in the room? Perhaps. But the feelings she was getting from them—and the room itself—were unpleasant in more ways than one. It creeped her out—not that she showed it out on the outside—and her defense mechanism was to either destroy or run away from whatever made her uncomfortable. And since she couldn’t run away due to being trapped in a room of mirrors, her only option was to destroy—which was even worse than avoidance since destruction was usually fueled by her anger. Hers was the sin of wrath, after all.
The blonde Knight was just as quick as her companion in going on the defensive, crystallizing her fists and taking on a fighting stance that resembled one used by boxers. She eyed the newcomer suspiciously for a moment before opening her mouth to speak, “Are you the one who set up this trap?” She asked, her voice coming out calm and steady despite the tension building in the pit of her stomach. Might as well try and get some answers before blood starts to spill.

He felt a kick to his side which woke him up abruptly. The blow was not as painful as perhaps it could have been if he was not thoroughly drunk, but there wast still the principle of the thing. He was about to complain when he recalled the blow may have been his fault - seeing as he had passed out in the street.
He looked up into the confused, but stunning face above him and felt even less of a need to complain.
“My dear, if you’re going jump on top of me, perhaps you should get me another drink first…”
Samaees eyebrows quirked at his comment but they quickly furrowed together as she stared at the male—alive and breathing, thank the gods—underneath as if he had grown a third head. “You, sir,” She began with a frown, “Are clearly not in need of any more alcohol. Look at where it got you.” And her, for that matter.

Niela was new to this situation. Another Guild? One that wanted the Knights gone as much as the Mancers did? Or did something else play a game here. She was too nervous to ask. But they were going anyway, and through the commotion at the main entrance of Alcart and the discovery that they weren’t the only ones in the town, Niela pretty much lost everyone she was bound to travel with, and found herself walking in circles. Now, before she stormed through the city on her own, she had managed to get herself attached to someone else, and the strange feeling that people were looking at them from above. This wasn’t the same Alcart she had fought for a year ago. It was abandoned, and it was creepy.
She took the lead when she saw the market house, a large building where the market was prepared in times of rain. She crossed the square and opened the door just far enough for them to go through it. But the building’s interior had completely changed; all she saw were mirrors. And in those mirrors she saw herself, and her companion a million times over.

It was as chaotic of a mess as it was eerie---the strange reunion of enemies in a city that was a shell of its former self---and within and because of that mess, Samaees had somehow managed to lose sight of her companions, leaving her to wander about in search of them. Much sooner than later, she ended up teaming up with another Knight in the same situation during her search---better to be with some sort of companion than alone in this eerie forsaken city---and they pushed forward, the dark-haired Knight taking the lead when she noticed the market house. The inside was not what Samaees had been expecting---a room of mirrors.
Instinctively, she turned towards the door and reached for the handle only to find it missing. Pressing both palms where the door was supposed to be, she felt along the wall in search of the door handle and came up empty. She cursed silently. “We’re trapped.” She commented calmly, forcing her breathing to remain even as she turned back to the plethora of mirrors and eyed them. “Do you think if we break them, we’ll find the exit?” She wondered aloud. She had the strange urge to just smash every mirror in her proximity . . . they were giving her a strange vibe, one that told her that Niela and herself were not entirely alone.

She wasn’t sure how she missed it--it wasn’t even that dark out--all she knew was that by the time she noticed the body, she was already falling into the ditch as well, her feet a tangled mess underneath her. Samaees managed to catch herself from falling flat on her face, preventing much brain damage, though the rest of her body landed on top of the one already in the ditch. Pushing herself up, she narrowed her eyes at the body beneath her, her face a mixture of confusion and a scowl. “What the f--” Was it dead? Ugh, just her luck to find a corpse and fall on top of it.

Biography -
Samaees Tessels was born deep among the Human lands, her parents wealthy traders who were away from home a lot, and she had only one sister. Home life was rather boring, her days were filled with running after their young nanny, who told them daily about the gods, goddesses, and legends, sharing stories that would form Samaees’ early childhood. Much of that changed when Lath Magicians found out what hid within her shy personality: a powerful magician. Crystal Magic had its ups and downs, and over the years at the Jewantes School, Samaees was taught to control her emotions, she had to be calm in order to use the full strength of her protection. She was wonderful at it, getting good grades, and turning into a wanted Knight among the Compans. Her religious upbringing was lost among school life.
When joining her first Compan, Samaees soon learned where the true strength of her Magic lay: her anger. If she got thirsty for blood and raging for violence, her Magic was at its most dangerous. She lost herself completely in the emotion, and it scared others. One day, while on the field with her new Compan, Samaees’ loss of control caused the death of a close friend. She slashed through the enemy lines, and in her rage hit one of the Blue Magicians, a young girl named Tyra, on her head, killing her instantly. When she gained control again, she was faced with her handy work. Traumatized by her anger, she promised never to show her anger again. Religion once again became her escape from feelings that could pull her apart.
Personality -
Samaees went through every part of one’s personality— before she discovered her magic she was shy, religious, and calm, but the Crystal in her blood fuelled her will to be strong. And strength within her Magic form was most powerful when anger and rage drove her. But when it came at a hard price, she knew she had to give it up. To deal with what she had done, Samaees once again turned to religion. And she knew to prevent it from ever happening again, she had to get herself together. Protecting herself and those around her, Samaees turned stoic, hardly talked and pulled back in her usual shyness, though it was a fake show to help people understand her. Using Crystal Magic as a condition never seemed to help, hardly anyone knew the true terrors of losing control to emotions.
Just like the others, Samaees is new to the Compan. She has only had the honor to meet Emonia, who is nice and all, but she needs more time to get to know her. Same goes for everyone else, she wants to get to know them, but only time can tell.
