Pls don't ever shut up and I'd absolutely love to see whatever creative seeds I have sprouted in your head bc your art is LOVELY. You have super talent, omg, I'm so impressed. I haven't picked up a pencil in AGES bc my head hasn't been on straight in so long but you sure make me want to. I feel so inspired by looking at your work, I haven't done any proper drawing in so long. I think the fandom inflates Kavinsky's bad behavior as a whole and he isn't as awful as people say. I read the books again recently and I admittedly used to hate him but on a reread, I realized I was influenced by how the characters felt about him and not his actual personality. He's a classic fuckboy but he's really not as bad as people claim 🙈

I agree, I agree. He's does some fucked up shit but this book also contains real life hitmen and murderers. I don't know, I think Kavinsky cracking a your mom joke is pretty low on the shitty behavior scale. I don't excuse him by any means, boy's got issues and definitely did some Shit at the end, but yeah, I don't think he deserves as much hate as he gets. For one thing, he's one of the funniest characters in the entire series. Secondly, he's one of the most interesting characters in the series. So many good one liners. Kavinsky was a legend 😔✊

And people just be like- oh guess you right you're the narrator after all, gonna spread the hate and all what else there to do right?

the kavinsky vs gansey thing is so funny bc like. gansey is cannonicly tiny. he’s fun sized. and kavinsky just gives off tall guy energy. really tall guy, taller than ronan energy. so like. they both have to crane their necks to look at each other and kavinsky is towering over gansey and and i can’t take their hatred seriously when gansey is wearing boat shoes and fucking polo shirts and kavinsky is wearing white tank tops and probably baggy jeans because that was kinda seen as cooler and it’s just so funny.... conclusion: they both look like they would get beat up in the back of a Wendy’s for different reasons and their height difference is comical, therefore they would look stupid having a verbal fight

I've seen people argue that Kavinsky's redemption wasn't necessary to the story. But you know what also wasn't necessary? Writing a mentally ill teenager who also suffers from substance abuse and making his life disposable because he's not the right kind of traumatised. Not just making his life disposable but making that fact a plot point for another character's development. Also not necessary: writing a mentally ill teenager who also suffers from substance abuse commit suicide then literally having no further conversation about it. God, I feel like this isn't acknowledged enough. Kavinsky kills himself and it doesn't matter. He very publicly commits suicide and it's absolutely horrific actually. But there's no larger conversation about it. He's just dead. 

I just think that dismissing people (especially people who live with incredibly stigmatised disorders) who have genuine concerns about how Kavinsky's character was handled, and who it genuinely had a negative impact on, is simply not the way to go here. There needs to be a serious discussion (and not just in this fandom) about the ways in which people (teenagers especially) with 'less palatable' mental health issues are demonised and how this rhetoric that they are 'unfixable' or that they 'don't matter' actually directly impacts their ability to get the help they need.
