Hey y'all!

You might have noticed that we've been inactive the last few Saturdays. Unfortunately life has been a lot for the mods of late and it's not been possible for us to keep up with SS 😔

But Sambucky Saturdays will continue after the New Year with themes going ahead as planned. If you'd still like to make posts following the themes before January, we would still love to see it, but forgive us if we're slow to reblog.

We would love some extra help over here to make Sambucky Saturdays the best they could be! If you're over 18 and interested in joining the mod team, we would love to have you. Low pressure & just giving as much time as you're able :) bonus points if you're able to make graphics or happy to make blog posts like this one, but if not, just your presence reblogging Sambucky posts on Saturdays would be great!

Due to personal circumstances, running Sambucky Saturdays each week has become a challenge. For the time being things will be a little quiet on our end on non theme weeks.

Theme weeks will still be active! But each non-theme week most likely not be moderated.

The thought of Sam Wilson following him around the world terrifies him, and not for any of the reasons that it should. It’s not because at any moment, anyone who knows the Words could reactivate the Soldier and bury him again. It’s not because he feels bad for making Sam go to all that trouble. It’s not even because he’s scared of seeing Steve. It’s because Sam Wilson makes him want to be still. To stop running. To stay in one place long enough for Sam to find him over and over and over again.  And that maybe scares Barnes more than any of the other things. Because he doesn’t really know why he feels that way. Or—maybe he does. Maybe he does, and the scary part is that that feeling isn’t just coming from James Barnes, from the man he used to be. It’s his whole being. The Soldier, Bucky, whoever the hell he is now. He’s a new person, and he’s two very old people, and all of him, every single version, every single inch, wants Sam Wilson to find him.  - 22:38 happy new year, bird 22:40 is this meant to be a check in?  22:40 you’re two days early 22:41 i’m wishing you happy new year. did you not read the message? 22:42 alright smart ass. happy new year. wherever you are. Summary:

“Don’t look at me like that.” Bucky raises an eyebrow. “Don’t look at yourself like that,” he counters.  “Like what? I’m just lookin’.” “You like what you see?” Sam smirks. “Do you?” “Don’t change the subject.” “I’m not!” “You are. Sweetheart, you’re perfect, you know that, right?”

Sam has a lot of insecurities. Bucky has an idea how they can change that - an exercise he learned in therapy about hearing and accepting compliments, which he is always happy to give, especially when Sam is already standing in front of a mirror.

He didn't plan on also having to participate in said exercise, but he'll do it for Sam. (Predictably, it all ends up very emotional and very horny.)

Just. having Thoughts

When Bucky told Sam that he was gonna run for congress, Sam was kinda nervous that Bucky was gonna disappear from his life again. He started putting his walls up and preparing himself for some kind of distance to open up between them like it had before. After making Bucky such a huge part of his life, Sam felt like suddenly it was all on a shaky foundation.

But Bucky didn't disappear. He kept showing up. Even when they were thousands of miles apart, he was there, texting Sam every day, calling him, organising times to meet up. Then he showed up when Joaquin got hurt, and Sam knew for sure then that Bucky was never gonna disappear on him again. Knew that he was in this, with him, for good. Not even a dramatic change in career and lifestyle and a whole bunch of miles between them could actually keep them apart

And finally, Sam has someone who shows up for him like he does for everyone else ❤️
