Samcedes Week: Day Four —> Friends With Benefits

Summary: Sam and Mercedes have been close ever since they were kids but have never dated. For the first time ever, with both of them single (and horny) at the same time, they decide to give a friends with benefits relationship a try. Generally rated T but there’s a little M due to subject matter.
Ever since they were kids, Sam Evans and Mercedes Jones had always been pretty good friends. They had the same sense of humor so whenever they got together they had laughs for days and when things got rough, they comforted and took care of each other. People would always say they’d be perfect for each other if they dated to which the two would simply look at one another and howl with laughter. When Quinn asked Mercedes if she was going to ‘tap that’ she simply shook her head in amusement and said “Please girl, Sam’s like my brother. It’d be weird.” When Mike inquired, Sam had said “Mercedes and I are really good friends. She gets me but that’s the homie. Not that she’s not girlfriend material! I just think it would complicate our friendship. But if you were trying to holler, I could talk you up to her.”
Furthermore, the timing for the two of them also never seemed to work out. They were always dating someone else and even when one was single, the other would be with someone else. Eventually, they made a pact promising each other that if they became 40 years old and were both single, they would just go ahead and give a romantic relationship a try. Just for shits and giggles and also because they both realized they wouldn’t mind spending their lives together. Ultimately, they both agreed that it would be a very long time before they’d even have to think about seeing each other if ever at all.
The “long time” came much sooner than they had anticipated. For the first time ever, somehow the end of their relationships with past lovers came about around the same time. Mercedes had broken it off with Shane, a guy who she assured Sam was totally sweet but way too clingy. His mother also had a nasty habit of interfering with their relationship and it got to a point where it just got really weird and Mercedes had had enough. Sam on the other hand had just ended it with Santana for the fourth time. They had dated on and off for so long that Sam was pretty sure he was in love with her but he was done arguing and taking breaks because she wasn’t sure she loved him.
That is how one Friday night, Sam ended up at Mercedes’ watching crap TV. The two old friends had had a good laugh when they explained their relationship woes to one another.
"Seems like we have the opposite problem… " Sam remarked.
"How do you figure?" Mercedes asked, popping another handful of nachos into her mouth.
"Well,” Sam began, “Santana was emotionally unavailable meanwhile Shane was too emotional…It actually seems like I should’ve tried dating him. We probably would’ve made a pretty cute couple.”
"Oh yea? Yea…I guess could see it," Mercedes laughed. "Maybe we should’ve swapped partners. You know I always thought Santana was kind of cute."
