Calcutyah//Sami&Miri
Mir sat back into her char, crossing her legs. Instead of answering his question right away she took a drag of her cigarette and studied the man across the table. He obviously was a foreigner, but from where Miri couldn’t place yet.Â
Miri exhaled a trail of smoke off to her right. “Miriam,” she finally answered after a long delay. “And yours would be?”
“Miriam.” Sami repeated as the smoke rolled out of his mouth. He had never felt anything like her. Needing her was an understatement, he saw the future when he looked into her eyes. Â
“I’m Sami, are you from here?” The confidence in the way she moved made him believe that this was her city. People moved differently when they were home.

Miri raised a brow at his comment. He sounded as bored as she felt. Usually men, strange men especially, were much more aggressive when meeting her. Miri was a woman grown and attracted her fair share of suitors but this was definitely a first.
Every move he made was unusual, especially when he snuffed out the match he was using to light his cigarette. “Awfully intimate, no?” Miri looked up at his eyes then stood and connected the end of hers with his. “Thank you.”
Sami just smile at her comment, as she leaned taking the light that was offered. God, what was that smell. he had ever experienced anything like it, It wasn’t just her perfume any more, it was power and future and life.  It was becoming more and more clear the longer he was close to her that Sami needed her.Â
“You’re welcome.” His voice with it usual gruffness but his eyes had an uncharacteristic softness to them now. “Whats your name?”

Miri began flipping lazily through a magazine trying anything to distract herself. A fashion magazine. She wondered how she’d look in the dresses compared to the bone thin, pale models. Much healthier, Miri thought with a smirk.
When the chair across the table from her was pulled out it immediately caught her attention. “Excuse me?” Miri looked around. There were plenty of open tables at the little cafe.Â
It only took a second to realize it was the same man that she had locked eyes with earlier. Her gaze drifted down to the cigarette box and then she smiled. Taking one and placing it on her lips, she looked back over at the stranger. “Have a light?”
He glanced down at what she was reading but didn’t pay it much mind at all. It didn’t seem his taste anyway. His focus was this woman. What was she? Who was she? He had never been drawn to any creature like her before. Curious wasn’t even the half of it. Sami wanted her.Â
“You’re excused.” He said his signature drool speech starting the conversation already. He liked the sound of her voice.Â
He placed his cigarette between his lips a small smile starting to play across them. Reaching into his pocket with a nod, he took out the book of matches he kept there. Lighting his own quickly he put out the match and leaned in. Sami just assumed she’d know what to do and waited for her to lean forward so the end of the cigarettes could meet.

Miri was bored. She had just returned from a trip with her brother. They visited another “tutor” in the countryside for her “special gifts”. The problem being Miri seemed to know more than the man that they sought out which she had no difficulty in calling to everyone’s attention. The whole thing was a bust and now she was once again back home pretending to blend in with the crowd. But Miri had no desire to blend in anywhere, especially the place of her birth. She felt too big for these streets even at only nineteen. She hated to think of how she’d feel about them in a few more years.Â
She swirled her chai in her glass then looked around at the crowds in the busy streets. So many people, so many lives, each more insignificant than the other and Miri felt like she was the only one in the know. It was an exclusive club that she was honored to be a part of.
Suddenly Miri locked eyes with a man across the street. It was only an moment when the crowds parted just enough for them to catch each other’s eye. A shiver went down her spine, but Miri brushed it off and returned to her cup of tea.Â
When he got close enough to see her he kept his distance. Living in the wondering of who she was. But even now before ever speaking to her Sami knew that this person was going to change him. They were going to hurt each other, but he couldn’t turn away. The power drifted off her like the smell of her Jasmine perfume. A scent that with each step he moved closer grew stronger.
He stood a few feet away before giving in to his desires. He was a Xcubi after all. If he couldn’t indulge in a little danger what was the point of having this kind of power.
Sami sat down across from her and pulled a cigarette box out of his pants pocket taking one out he pushed the box to her without a word.

The bright colors that filled the streets were something that made Sami feel as far from home as possible. He had traveled the world in his almost a hundred years of life but no place quite matched where he stood now. The vibrant yellows, rich reds and golds seemed to have oozed into the very soil of this place. Even the people seemed to have color in the tone of their voices and spring in their steps. He did not fit in here. Everyone nearby could be certain of that.Â
But he was hungry and had come here to sample new flavors of the human experience. He scanned the crowded streets for someone who looked well suited for his plans. A little loose, the desperate type, male or female didn’t matter. He’d have bothe before he left this place.
A pair of brown eyes flagged him, and his head snapped back towards them. She was beautiful young. Too poised for his normal taste but he couldn’t tear his gaze away. Sighing, he pushed past the people standing near him and tried to close the distance between himself and whoever she was. Â
“That’s surprising.”
“Do you believe him?”
“I don’t know, I was fucked and I didn’t want to do anything without you there.”
“I have to say that is the first time I’ve heard that statement.. I’m usually far from new to things.” she let out a little sigh as she shifted in her place. “So oh wise one.. what do you think is brewing in this weird ass town?”
“Should I be impressed?” Sami took a cigarette out the pack with his lips and then held them out to Rayne. “Don’t waste time guess, we’re immortal wait and see. Watch the scramble.”
“Did you put him through the wall?” Miri’s hand dropped and her brow knotted in concern.
“Not yet.”
“My own mortality is a distant memory.”
“It must be nice.”
Rayne scrunched her brow a little at his question. She wasn’t really sure what he was referring too. She couldn’t feel any disturbance in the force. But then again she wasn’t always the best at paying attention to the world around her. “I’m going to have to go with a no… unless you’re talking about my insane need for a good burger. Then yes, I feel you.”
Sami let out a dry laugh at her comment. Not really bother to acknowledge it in any other fashion. The young woman reminded him of himself from years back. When this was all this was still exciting. “You’re still new to this.”
This crying has been happening too often, every other week now. What do normal people do when they get this sad?
She reached over and ran her fingers down his back. “Are you cheating on me?”Â
He looked over at her as she traced her hand down his back. The feeling that is wasn’t real washed over him again. “He said he might fix this.”
“I could venture a few guesses but they would be more stabs in the dark.”
“Suppose it doesn’t much matter for people like us.”
“Of course, but it doesn’t matter now. Come back to bed.”
He lowered himself back onto the bed. “Miri, I meet another watcher.”
