Daily Report | Chase and Isaiah
Chase nods. “Right. I can do that, sir. Gladly.” He takes the pages, looking down at them.
Something about Isaiah makes him want to impress. Yearn to become someone Isaiah considers in his close circle. But he has a long way to go still—and when he thinks about it in detail, he’s not too sure why he craves it so much, considering Isaiah is dangerous, and not necessarily a moral man. But what morals does Chase stand for, anyway? He’s not exactly the picture of innocence or virtue. He’s not one to talk.
“Erm—” he looks back up at the broad faced man, who’s dark eyes peer out from underneath a low, heavy brow. “Thanks. Fer, ya know, trustin’ me or whatnot.” He bites his lip to stop himself from talking. It had sounded far more stupid after saying it, and he feels a flush of embarrassment. He stands. “Will that be all fer now? I can get on this as soon as they come in and let ya know if I find anything that ain’t right.”
“Just make sure they arrive in just that condition.” If the legends were true this could be the break he was looking for. Isaiah was very tired of chasing these leads all over the globe. He hoped that this was the end of it, but he wasn’t going to hold his breath either. A bland indifference was safer than getting his hopes up at this point in his journey.
“Yes, that’ll be all.” He nodded slightly dismissing the nymph. “And let me know if their are any changes in the Matrix. I want to be the first to know.” Of course he wouldn’t be the first. That honor still went to the damned watchers. It annoyed Isaiah to no length that humans would be entrusted with that kind of power. Only someone who had lived as long as he could properly understand the dynamics of life and death holding everything together.

The council, this was the second person he’d heard mention it. First that blonde girl from the woods - not Iseult, somebody else. He couldn’t remember. Her name hadn’t seemed important at the time. “The council?” Edward wasn’t totally sure if asking questions was within his right, here, but he didn’t think he’d be chastised for it. “Could you possibly expand on that?”
The question made him pause for a moment, uncertain. Think, Edward. If there was ever a time to be precise, it was now. “Two-hundred and…” Shit, he had no idea. If he had access to the internet, he’d be able to look it up, but off the top of his head, he had no idea. “About two-hundred and twenty, maybe thirty.”
Edward had met immortals who didn’t know exactly how old they were, but the vast majority of the time it was when they were ancient. Those over a millennia old. He’d never met somebody as young as himself who couldn’t answer such a simple question. He honestly felt a little humiliated.
“My documentation here puts me at eighteen, though,” he added.
“The governing body that attempts to control the supernatural entities in this area. You’ll be hearing from them if you do anything wrong. They aren’t shy.” Doing something about it was a completely different story. The Council had the authority but not the power and it left them crippled, weak.
Isaiah raised his brows at the young vampire’s age. The slight reaction was the biggest one he’d ever give. He was not entirely surprised. Isaiah hadn’t expected Edward to be very old. The ancients had their own way about them. When they walked into a room the whole atmosphere changed, the whole room seemed to age along with them. “You look even younger. A boy to the common eye.” It could make him more useful than just as a secretary or whatever Ronan had him doing in the building. With that face, he could positively get away with murder.
“I have lived thousands of years, Mr. Coverly. Antioch is now my home for many reasons, but most importantly I chose this town for its secrecy. I don’t like surprises and I don’t like people bringing attention to the vampire community in this area. Are we clear?”
She’s Here || Isaiah & Camille
“I was curious as to why you decided to settle in a place with so many rules.” Being part of such a strict establishment felt a bit out of place for her, although it did bring back memories of her life as a human. “I must admit, the idea of messing about with the order around here certainly does sound fun.”
“Well, when I settled here there were less rules. It was just the dogs patrolling the countryside and the city was free to mold.” Isaiah didn’t take the Council personal. If he were in their position he’d want some insurance as well. “I do believe they made the rules for me, but I take it as a compliment. The whole town is afraid.”
“It must be nice.”
“Quite nice. What about yourself? Still feeling connected to your mortality?”

A soft gasp slipped from the girl’s lips when she felt a sliver of glass cut the tip of her finger. The didgit was instantly brought to her mouth. She was a little startled when she heard the deep voice of someone off to the side. “they do..” she huffed a little standing in her place as she turned to the man.
He was no stranger, Aislin know who was Isaiah was. The whole town knew him. She’d also listened in on a few rants from her mother about him. Sucking on her finger for a moment her let her hand drop to her side. “My mother can’t really afford accidents to happen when it comes to the shop..” Her shoulders slumped a bit as she spoke.
“I’m sure it’s not the end of the world and even your mother would agree.” He watched the red head put her finger in her mouth. His expression didn’t change but his eyes sparkled with delight. Blood in the water. Who could say that the man didn’t have a sense of humor?
“How is your mother lately? I haven’t seen her in ages.” Audrey was the heart of the Council whether the others wanted to admit it or not. He had nothing personally against the woman, but the structure itself infuriated him.
Just Perfect || Open
Unloading fragile product from her car in to her mother’s shop. Was something that Aislin usually could do in her sleep. If she was focused and didn’t have a million thoughts flying around in her head. Sadly that wasn’t the case currently. Which is why as soon as her foot connected with a deep grove in the alley’s pavement the back of bath salts flew out of her hand. “FUCK!” slipped from the red heads lips loudly echoing through the alley way as she dropped down to her knees. Glass and salt were scattered out in front of her. “Just perfect, Just fucking perfect!” was added as she tried hopelessly to find a container that hadn’t been damaged. She was pretty sure it was just the icing on the cake for her day.
Another beautiful spring day. Isaiah took the opportunity to go out and see the city. Even after all these years of being a vampire he still preferred the heat of the summer.
Isaiah’s walk was interrupted by the loud cursing coming from a side street. He followed the noise and stopped just as the redhead came into sight. “Accidents do happen.”

Edward was having to try hard not to fidget, God, he was so jittery. As a child, he’d learned to suppress his tics when he was around adults or the older boys, but he wasn’t as good at it these days. He didnt need to do it so often, so he had got out of the habit. He tapped his fingertips against his knees.
“Nearly a month,” he answered. His voice stuck a little, he cleared his throat. “I live on Lincoln Avenue, it’s in Westmont.” Of course, his address was on file, that was a useless piece of information to give, but it felt polite to expand. What else could he say to that? Very little - returning the question would have been incredibly rude.
Ranier’s next words made Edward’s eyes widen, and he swallowed. Was he in danger, here? His territory. Oh, this wasn’t looking good. There was no question there, nothing he could easily reply to. So he nodded. Licked his lips. “I tend to keep a relatively low profile,” he said carefully. He didn’t want to sound deceptive.
He paused. He didn’t want to say too much, in case something could be used against him. But all the same, he wanted to be candid. He had nothing to hide. Edward was a man of few motivations. “I travel,” he blurted out. “I won’t be here more than three or four years. And that’s at the very most.”
Isaiah nodded slowly. If the young man’s antics were an act than he was the best actor Isaiah had ever seen. No. It seemed like this Edward was a frightened little hamster in Isaiah’s presence, not that it wasn’t a familiar feeling for him. However, most of his immortal constituents did their best to hide any nervous energy in his presence.
“I can see that and I’d encourage you to continue to do so. The Council that makes the rulings around here really don’t like too many disturbances in Antioch.” Isaiah didn’t fear the Council, but that didn’t mean he didn’t think they had no power. The announcement of Jackson Waya’s trial was enough evidence of that.
“How old are you, Mr. Coverly?” After pausing for a moment he added, “your real age, if you please.” As always Isaiah’s polite and careful choice of words did little to hide that the request wasn’t really a request.
“Suppose it doesn’t much matter for people like us.”
“My own mortality is a distant memory.”

Delaney couldn’t help but let he hues linger on him for a moment or two, narrowing them slightly as she tried to weigh him up. “Well I suppose if it’s all their own free will–then that is up to them how they choose to be.” It was quite surreal to think about, but each to their own.
“To each their own,” he said with a shrug. “I should be on my way. It was nice meeting you, Delaney. Have a good day and keep that temper in check.”
Daily Report | Chase and Isaiah
“Alright sir. I’ll make sure to talk to ‘em.”
He’s grateful when Isaiah gives him a task, however. He aches to feel useful, to feel used and needed in some way. That very need is more than half the reason he still works for the agency. It’s not about the money, anymore. Isaiah pays him more than enough to live off of. But then again, had it ever been about the money? He’d needed it to survive, back home, so in a lot of ways, it had been, but he’s realized that what kept him going back to it, what kept him from trying to get on his feet to find something else, is the fact that the work brought him a certain kind of satisfaction. A fulfillment to an emptiness he’d never vocally addressed, even to himself. He needs the harsh hand of authority. The thrust of margins, even punishment, to make him feel like he’s worthwhile enough not to disappear completely.
He reaches with nimble fingers for the photos as Isaiah slides them to him, nodding quickly. “Yes sir, I can do that for ya. Um, what kind of artifacts, exactly? Just lemme know when the shipment gets here and I’ll be on it right away for ya.”
Isaiah was unaccustomed to people being so eager to work without a little push or some intimidation. It was surprising. And for someone who wasn’t often surprised, it was an anomaly. Even Julian would give him some push back from time to time. Isaiah put it off mostly to growing pains, but he was sure to keep his progeny in line. There was only so much he’d take even from Julian.
“Some things that I’ve collected over the years. The photos show the condition they should be arriving in.” A few old stones covered an an ancient language. The stones weren’t as significant as what was written on them. “Make sure they arrive exactly in that condition and if they are damaged I need to know immediately.

Seeing the man in front of him stand, about half a foot taller than him, Edward’s eyes widened a little. He was impressive, he carried himself with poise and weight, even his posture made him seem grand. He wasn’t exactly what Edward had expected, but he wasn’t actually far off. He just hadn’t imagined him to be so big, though.
He nodded, said, “Yes, of course, thank you,” and drew the chair out. He sat down, set his bag at his feet, bounced his legs a little beneath the desk. He was honestly very nervous. His heart beat fast in his chest - though, not as fast a human heart would. He hadn’t eaten in a while. Didn’t want to draw attention to himself in this new town.
The question made Edward think for a moment. He did like Mr Coverly. It reminded him of being in school, but in this day and age, it made him feel important, too. But in this office, faced with this man, he didn’t feel important at all. So he soon replied, “Just Edward is fine, thank you, sir.” Though he was agitated, he stopped himself from fidgeting his leg. Didn’t want to make a bad impression.
He was told as a child not to speak unless spoken to, and that was something that very much stuck with him, especially when he was engaging with an authority figure. He did wonder why he had been asked here, but couldn’t bring himself to ask. It was far too outside his comfort zone. Of course, he had theories. But now he was here, there was something that made him think that the answer was obvious, he just wasn’t trying hard enough. Maybe it was something in the atmosphere. Something he’d felt a lot recently.
His brows furrowed a little. Something supernatural?
Isaiah’s dark eyes roamed over every inch of the other man. It was not exactly what he was expecting when he prepared himself for another vampire entering his office. Studying the man lead to a few conclusion, of course the wrong conclusion could be dangerous. But Isaiah trusted his instincts. They hadn’t let him down in over a thousand years.
Edward didn’t seem ancient like himself or Atticus. There was just something different about any being that walked the Earth for over a thousand years. It wasn’t something he could quantify or explain. Isaiah hypothesized it was just the toll of existence took on their minds. Julian couldn’t understand it, even Camille wasn’t old enough to really grasp the scope of it.
“So how long have you been in Antioch, Edward?” Once seated again, Isaiah rocked back into his chair. Now that Isaiah was fairly certain he was much older than this new resident he could relax a bit. If Edward tried anything it would be the last thing he every did. Isaiah rarely had to resort to violence anymore, but when he did it only ended one way. Hopefully the other man wasn’t that stupid.
“I normally hear immediately when new vampires enter my territory.” Interesting choice of words. Isaiah laid claim on the city even before hearing the others story.
“And who is responsible for that?”
“I could venture a few guesses but they would be more stabs in the dark.”
