Goemon is everything to me. He’s quiet, serious, disciplined and yet somehow, he makes my heart scream like a teenage girl at a boy band concert. I love the way he tries to act composed and reserved, even though I can make him blush in 0.2 seconds flat. He’s my strong, silent protector and I’m his chaotic, emotional whirlwind who thinks his every move is a grand romantic gesture.

He doesn’t say much, but when he does, it matters. I can tell he loves me deeply even if he’s terrible at expressing it out loud. I bring the noise, he brings the sword, and together we make a disaster duo in love.

The Tokyo hideout hummed with the low thrum of a city at dusk, but inside, the atmosphere was thick with something far more potent: love. Specifically, the nauseatingly sweet, all-consuming love that had taken hold of Goemon and Eris and refused to let go.

It had been a year since the agonizingly slow burn of their mutual yearning finally caught fire. Now, they were making up for lost time with an intensity that was driving everyone around them insane.

"Alright, people, focus up," Lupin announced, spreading a set of blueprints across the low table. "The 'Eye of Amaterasu' diamond is being moved to a private vault tomorrow night. Security is triple-redundant, so we need to be—"

He was cut off by a soft sigh from the couch. Eris was draped across Goemon's lap, tracing patterns on his chest while he, in turn, stroked her hair with a surprising gentleness.

"Did you hear that, my love?" Eris murmured, gazing up at him with wide, adoring eyes. "He said 'triple-redundant.' You're triple-redundant in your perfection."

"As you are in your beauty, my heart," Goemon replied, his voice a low, besotted rumble. He leaned down and pressed a lingering kiss to her forehead.

Jigen, sitting in his usual armchair with a cigarette dangling from his lips, made a sound of physical pain. "I think I just got a cavity from listening to that."

Lupin pinched the bridge of his nose. "Guys. Heist. Focus. The window for us to get in is only ninety seconds."

"Ninety seconds is an eternity without you," Goemon whispered to Eris, his dark eyes sparkling in a way that had become distressingly common over the past year.

"I can't bear to be apart from you for even a moment, Goebaby," Eris sighed back, snuggling closer. "It's torture."

"Okay, that's it." Lupin clapped his hands loudly. "Eris, off his lap. Goemon, stop looking at her like she's a sunset. We have work to do."

With visible reluctance, Eris slid off Goemon's lap to sit beside him on the couch. The moment she did, Goemon's hand found hers, their fingers lacing together with the practiced ease of two people who were never not touching.

“As I was saying," Lupin tried again, "the ventilation system is our best bet for entry. Jigen, you'll be on overwatch. Goemon, you'll need to bypass the secondary locks, which are laser-triggered and—"

He trailed off as he noticed Goemon wasn't listening. He was staring at Eris, a soft, dopey smile on his face. Eris was staring right back, her chin propped in her hand, her expression one of pure adoration.

"Are you two even on this planet right now?" Jigen grumbled.

They both blinked, turning to him as if noticing him for the first time.

"We're listening," Eris said, though her gaze immediately drifted back to Goemon's face. "It's just that my samurai sweetie is so handsome when he's concentrating. It's distracting."

"You are the sun to my moon," Goemon murmured back, lifting her hand to kiss her knuckles. "Everything pales in your presence."

Lupin threw his hands up in defeat. "I can't do this! I cannot plan a high stakes international jewel heist while the two of you are reenacting a cheesy romance novel in my living room!"

Fujiko, who had been observing the scene with detached amusement while filing her nails, finally spoke up. "Honestly, you two have single-handedly destroyed the reputation of modern criminals. We're supposed to be mysterious and cool, not... this." She gestured vaguely at their intertwined hands and sappy expressions.

"But love is the coolest mystery of all," Eris said with complete sincerity.

Jigen groaned and stood up. "I'm going out for a smoke. I need to be in a place where people aren't feeding each other... whatever that is."

He was, in fact, referring to the way Goemon was now delicately picking up a piece of amaebi sushi with a pair of chopsticks and holding it to Eris's lips as if it were a priceless ambrosia.

"Do you like it, my cherry blossom?" Goemon asked softly as she accepted the piece of sushi with a small sound of contentment.

"I love anything that comes from you, my warrior king," she replied, then leaned in to kiss a grain of rice from the corner of his mouth.

"THAT'S IT!" Lupin snatched the blueprints from the table. "You know what? Forget it. The heist is off. Clearly, the only jewel you two are interested in stealing is each other's hearts."

He stomped out of the room, muttering about unprofessionalism and diabetic comas. Jigen, having witnessed the sushi feeding incident, had already fled. Fujiko simply shook her head, a small, wry smile on her face, and returned to her filing.

Left alone in the sudden silence, Eris and Goemon finally turned away from each other to look at the empty room.

"Did they say something?" Eris asked, genuinely confused.

"I believe Lupin was discussing a plan," Goemon said thoughtfully, already turning his attention back to her. "But I confess I was too captivated by the way the light catches your eyes to follow the details."

"Oh, you," she giggled, leaning her head on his shoulder. "Always saying the most perfect things."

"Only what is true." He tilted her chin up and their eyes met, another one of their patented, minutes-long, soul searching stares commencing. The world around them, with its heists and dangers, simply faded away.

In a few minutes, Lupin would come back and try to restart the briefing. Jigen would return smelling of smoke and cynicism. Fujiko would offer some cutting but accurate commentary on their behavior.

But for now, in their own little bubble, the air was still, the room was quiet, and two people were so madly in love that nothing else in the world mattered.

"I love you, Goemon," Eris whispered, breaking the silence.

"And I love you," he replied, his voice thick with an emotion that was no longer restrained. "More than all the treasures in the world."

He leaned in to kiss her, a soft, reverent meeting of lips that promised a lifetime of more sickeningly sweet moments to come.

And from the hallway, Jigen's groan was loud and clear.

Okay so lil ramble time! IRL I LOVE steak, but I absolutely hate having to cut it, so I like to imagine that whenever Eris and Goemon go out to dinner and order steak, she struggles with the knife for like five seconds before Goemon quietly goes, “Allow me.” Then he whips out Zantetsuken and slices the entire steak perfectly into equal pieces with one clean swipe. And Eris just claps her hands, completely amazed, and starts eating her new perfectly cut up steak like this is a totally normal thing that happens at restaurants. Meanwhile, every single person around them is just sitting there in horrified silence like… did that man seriously pull out a SWORD over a steak???

And to answer their question, yes. Yes, he did.
