Sam and Eleanor were sitting in their booth at a local restaurant eating their lunch at two in the afternoon. They haven’t spoken much in the past couple years, so they spend a lot of their time catching up on what happened in their lives over the past few months.
“So, how’s working with kids? Still Enjoying it?”
Sam lifted his mug while asking. He remembered when she would talk about working with kids, and now that she is finally there, he wants her to be happy. He has been maintaining his simple lifestyle of waking up, going to work, then coming home to watch T.V till he falls asleep n the couch and starts the process all over.
He drank from his coffee and started eating again.
“Are they paying you any better yet?”
Eleanor looked up at him, she had just calmed down from a joke he had made and both went back to a more serious topic. Jobs. “No, not yet. And I’ve been working my ass off for them.” she spoke. But money never really had been a big question for her. Sure, she would like to earn more money but she was fine with her life. She got to do what she loved. Teaching kids and helping them become the eprson they want. “But it’s fine, you know. Seeing all these kids day for day and helping them learn to be who they want to be, makes me happy. A smile is all you need to forget your worries.” she said. Now she was the one smiling at him. “How about you? Still working at this company?” she asked him in treturn.
“Yeah, still there. I’ve been promoted twice in the past couple years actually.” Sam worked at a simple desk job, as an intern to add, and now he runs his branch. “It pays well now, and it’s not so bad there. It’s work you know?” He did not want to seem like he was bragging that he had such a great life, because he was very minimal. Sam did not spend too much on anything and only bought as needed. “Any teacher drama then? If the kids are great, the faculty must be worse to balance the trade right?”
