पौराणिक कथाओं में वर्णन है कि महाराजा भगीरथ के अखंड तप से प्रसन्न होकर जिस दिन मां गंगा प्रथ्वी पर अवतरित हुईं वह बहुत ही दिव्य और पवित्र दिन था। यह दिन जेष्ठ माह शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी था। प्रथ्वी पर मां गंगा के अवतरण दिवस हर साल जेष्ठ शुक्ल दशमी को गंगा दहशरा मनाया जाता है। मान्यता है कि इस दिन गंगा स्नान एवं आराधना से मनुष्य को कई यज्ञ करने के बराबर पुण्य प्राप्त होते हैं। आज इस पावन दिवस पर प्रस्तुत है : गंगा स्तोत्र इसकी रचना आद्य शंकराचार्य ने की थी। यह स्तोत्र बहुत ही मधुर और लययुक्त है। भक्तिभावपूर्वक इसका पाठ करने से सभी तरह के शाप, ताप नष्ट हो जाते हैं, बुद्धि विमल हो जाती है और व्यक्ति जीवन-मरण के बंधन से मुक्त हो जाता है । Shri Ganga Stotram was composed by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. Shri Ganga Stotram is hymn in praise of mother Ganga. According to the Puranas the sight, the name and the touch of Ganga takes away all sins. Ganga is considered one of the most sacred river since the Vedic age. It is believed that bathing in the river on special occasions, such as today Ganga Dushehra, causes remission of sins and facilitates the attainment of salvation. चाक्षुषोपनिषद स्तोत्र का नियमित जप नेत्र ज्योति एवं नेत्र रोग के निवारण हेतु यजुर्वेद में उल्लिखित है। आँखों से सम्बंधित कोई बीमारी मे एक ताम्बे के लोटे में जल भरकर, पूजा स्थान में रखकर उसके सामने नियमित इस स्तोत्र के २१ बार पाठ करने के उपरान्त उस जल से दिन में ३-४ बार आँखों को छींटे मारने पर कुछ ही समय में नेत्र रोग से मुक्ति मिल जाती है । ऐसा माना गया है, कि चाक्षुषी विद्या का नियमित रूप से तथा विधिपूर्वक पाठ करने वाले के कुल मे भी कोई नेत्ररोग से पीडित अथवा अंधा नही होता । पाठ आरंभ करने से पहले विनियोग तथा अंत मे सूर्यदेव को अर्ध्य अवश्य दे । चाक्षुषी विद्या को किसी भी महीने के शुक्ल पक्ष रविवार को सूर्योदय के आसपास आरम्भ करके रोज इस स्तोत्र के ५ पाठ करें। सर्वप्रथम भगवान सूर्य नारायण का ध्यान करके दाहिने हाथ में जल, अक्षत, लाल पुष्प लेकर विनियोग मंत्र पढ़े। The Audio is taken from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgpxSZRCec0 We thank the creator for releasing this wonderful resource under creative commons licence Source videos : https://www.youtube.com/attribution?v=zgpxSZRCec0 View attributions
