there's talk in the wind of a new animorphs tv show, which i am hypothetically down for yet cautious about, and if this comes to pass the one thing i don't want them to fuck up is to make it look 90s

i think a large part of animorphs' identity and why it works the way it does is because it's set in the late 90s and early 00s, and an attempt to modernise it would be to detract from it, at least in small ways

To corroborate your point, they did try to modernize the books with the new edition, by adding "modern elements" to them (I mostly remember the change of game console but I guess there must have been other stuff)

The purpose was to attract a new and younger audience, but honestly it didn't work.... so I hope they learn from the experience

But the contrary would also be annoying in my opinion, like I don't want the animorphs series to have a glamourized 90s set like stranger things had a glamourized 80s set
