Sandor Clegane: A-Z Relationship Headcanons (N-Z)

N (Night Out - What types of dates does he like to go on? How often does he like to go on them?):

He’s not a huge date guy because he finds it hard to lose himself in his time with you when others are around. He likes to do things with you alone like riding your horses out to a lake and sharing some wine on the shore. He’s willing to do anything for you, though, so whatever you want to do or wherever you want to go, he’ll follow.

O (Out of the Ordinary - What’s something he doesn’t normally do with/for you?):

Sandor isn’t big on celebrating special days or holidays. It’s just never been something that’s a big deal to him, and he’s not especially great at remembering dates or even what day it is, so odds are he won’t remember any important dates to begin with. If it’s important to you, he’ll try his damndest, but try to cut him a little slack.

P (Playful - Is he playful in a relationship? If so, how does he play around/mess with you?):

He’s not overly playful, per se, but he does like to tease you with his sarcasm and participate in “mean” banter with you. He dabbles in the art of the lighthearted verbal bite.

Q (Questions - Does he ask your opinion on things? Does he share his?):

Sandor definitely likes to know what your thoughts on things are, but he’s also really good at reading the thoughts on your face before you even voice them so he doesn’t always have to ask. He likes it if you're an oversharer; any information or opinions you’re willing to share with him he neatly tucks away to think about later. Does he share his? Well, it depends on the situation. Sometimes he thinks his opinion doesn’t matter too much, in which case he doesn’t feel the need to unnecessarily share, but if it’s something he thinks you ought to be aware of then he will voice his thoughts.

R (Random - How spontaneous is the relationship? Does he do things on the spot or plan ahead?):

He’s somewhere in the middle. He’s not an over-planner who’s always thinking ten steps ahead, but he also doesn’t like to rush foolishly into things that might result in regret. He will give things at least a thought or two. But Sandor’s heart rules more strongly than his head so he’s often liable to do whatever he feels like doing. Like, he knows that he shouldn’t shove you up against the wall when passing you in the seemingly empty hallway, his lips and teeth finding their way to your neck and your hips in his iron tight grip. He knows he shouldn’t, people might come upon and see, but… Meh, consequences be damned.

S (Sleep - How does he sleep with you?):

Sandor tries to sleep with you any night that he possibly can. He loves being laid up close to you, your warmth lulling him into a deep slumber (not that he needs much help being put to sleep, but your presence brings him a level of comfort he never thought achievable). He usually falls asleep cuddling you, so you snooze the same way that the two of you fell into sleep together. He holds you tight so there isn’t much room for moving around, but he’s so soft and comfortable that you wouldn’t much want to anyway.

T (Trust - How much does he trust you?):

Oh, he trusts you with his entire life and being. Sandor wouldn’t be with you if he didn’t trust you; trust is vital to him. People have not always given him the most reason to trust them, given who his brother is and his experiences in King’s Landing (everyone in King’s Landing is a liar…). But you? He knows that he can trust you, whether it be with tight-lipped information or his own vulnerabilities. Be warned, though, that if you ever break his trust, it will be nigh impossible to repair…

U (Unique - What makes him unique as a significant other?):

You really are kind of his entire world... He doesn’t have anything else that he cares about nor anyone else that means much to him, so he really will gravitate around you like you are his sun and his tether to this life.

V (Vulnerable - How long until he can be vulnerable around you? What is he like in this state?):

It takes awhile, not because he doesn’t trust you, but because he’s not used to being vulnerable around others. He has built strong, fortified walls around himself, and those walls have only grown taller throughout time. When he finally gets there, he’ll open up to you about his wants, his fears, the good and the bad memories of Clegane childhood… his dreams of a future with you and running far, far away with you… He’s not always an open book, but he does try his damnedest to let you see who he is.

W (Wildcard - Get a random domestic headcanon of him.):

He’s not too bad of a cook. He can’t make anything overly fancy or anything, but he can cook a damned good homestyle meal if he needs to. Unfortunately, Sandor’s not a picky eater, so will he often put forth the effort of making a meal that consists of more than meat and carbohydrates? Probably not.

X (X-Ray - What would he do if you got injured?):

Does he need to kill someone? If so, Sandor’s already on the hunt for their head. Was it your own fault? “What the seven bloody hells is wrong with you…” Or was it an entirely unavoidable accident? He’s not too great at caring for wounds, usually leaving his own to fester and heal on their own; he’s quick to search out a maester who can help you with a more practiced hand. It turns his insides to see you hurt, but as much as he wishes to turn tail while the maester cares for you, he doesn’t really trust anyone else enough to leave you in a vulnerable position in their care so he’ll be sticking close by while the maester works.

Y (Yuck - Does he have any pet peeves about you? Does he have any habits that might bother you?):

Well, he snores like a boar and falls asleep almost too easily, so while you might lay awake with your thoughts at night he’s just peacefully snoring away. He also drinks too much, but luckily his tolerance is much too high for him to often act overly belligerent. And manners aren’t exactly his forte so he gets into his fair share of brawls and spats with strangers while out in public… As for you? It’s hard for him to ever get too annoyed with you because he realizes he’s got more luck than his worth in having you at his side. It would drive him a bit mad if you behaved too recklessly, though, because he’s very protective of you and doesn’t want you in harm’s way. Though, he knows that he will defend you no matter if it be on his blood or someone else’s, so… He also doesn’t like it if you ever talk negatively about yourself; he will be quick to correct you on that.

Z (Zeal - Is he passionate as a significant other? Does he want or like passion?):

Sandor can be very passionate, but he’s also good about suppressing his passion when need be. He’s had lifelong practice with restraint. But no matter how he acts, whether it be in your presence or in the company of others, one thing you can always be sure of is that passionate gleam in his eyes whenever they’re on you. Gods, it’s like they’ll never have their fill…

• A (Affection - How affectionate is he with you?):

Sandor is moderately affectionate, but he tries his best not to show it too openly around others for fear that they will use you as a way to get to him. In private, on the other hand, he’s all closeness and hands on every inch of your skin, wants to breathe in your scent, hear the sweet sound of your voice, feel your warmth against him… He’s a rough and tough guy, but god do you make him so tender for you.

• B (Breath - What do you do that takes his breath away?):

Just existing, really… There’s nothing in particular because he’s always ceaselessly amazed by you and all that you are. One thing that drives him wild, though, is whenever you touch your skin to his, whether it be running your fingers along his arm or nuzzling your nose into his neck. He just loves feeling you, knowing that you are real and that you do exist.

• C (Cuddle - Do they cuddle? If they do, how and when do they cuddle?):

Sandor is apt to keep you tightly wrapped in his arms most nights; he knows that it’s the safest place you could possibly be, and it reassures him that if something were to ever happen during the night, it’s exactly where you need to be for him to best protect you. It doesn’t hurt that you're quite warm and soft… Not that Sandor has much trouble falling asleep anyway, but he sleeps best when you’re pressed up against him. He prefers to sleep on his back, so he usually keeps an arm around you and curls you tightly into his side or chest.

• D (Dream - What does he dream of doing with you?):

He dreams of leaving with you, somewhere far away, somewhere where his past can’t follow and he doesn’t have to suffer nightmares of losing you to it. He doesn’t need anyone other than you, but he understands that it might not be feasible for you to leave everything behind (unless you want to, in which case he’s already packing your bags and gearing up the horses).

• E (Effort - How much effort does he put into the relationship?):

Fighting, drinking, and you are pretty much the only things on his mind most of the time, so he has a lot of room to give you all of the effort you need and deserve. Say what you want and Sandor is often right on it. Even if you don’t say anything, his eyes are almost always on you trying to read your mood or your thoughts so he can anticipate what you might need. Just don’t take advantage of his willingness for you; he won’t take too kindly to that.

• F (Fear - What does he do when you’re scared? How does he handle it?):

It depends why you’re scared. Is it something he can control? If so, you better believe that he will do everything in his power to do something about whatever it is that might be scaring you, whether it be a person he needs to deal with or a circumstance he can handle in your favor. If it’s something he can’t control, he’ll hold you tight in hopes that he can squeeze your fears away alongside reminding you that he would never let anyone or anything bring you any harm.

• G (Gift - What kinds of gifts does he give you? Does he want a gift in return?):

He’s not much of a gift person, neither receiving nor giving. He doesn’t even really know where to begin if he were to get you a gift… Sandor would need someone who’s not too material-minded. He’s more of an acts-of-service kind of lover.

• H (Hugs - Does he hug you? How often?):

Sandor loves wrapping his large arms around your smaller frame, pulling you so tightly into his chest that sometimes you have to give him a tap to remind him you need to breathe. He likes putting his hand to the back of your head and tucking your face into his neck, burying his own face into your hair and smelling your sweet scent. He doesn’t hug you often in public, preferring to keep those intimate moments strictly between the two of you. But if he’s been off traveling and hasn’t seen you for weeks, anyone around be damned, he will be scooping you up in his arms the moment his eyes find you once again.

• I (Intimacy - How romantic is he? Does he have problems with intimacy?):

He isn’t great at large displays of romance; he prefers to show intimacy through physical touch and service. He might not plan a candlelit dinner for you, but he will bring you back that book you’ve been looking for when he’s forced to travel a kingdom over as the king’s bodyguard. It was hard for him to give in to his want and need for intimacy in the beginning, feeling that he was not worthy of you or your love (he still feels this way…), but he has since given up on trying to quash those desires and now gives his full self to you.

• J (Jealousy - Does he get jealous? How does he react when jealous?):

Sandor isn’t the type to get upset at you over his jealousy. He’s fine with you wearing whatever you want, going wherever you want, being around whomever you want… He knows that if someone tries something you wouldn’t like, he can easily cut them down. He is wrought with the idea that you can and should do better than him, however, so he can’t help that tug of anxiety when he sees you in the good company of another man.

• K (Kiss - Is he a good kisser? Does he like to kiss? How often does he try to kiss?):

Oh, one of his favorite things in the universe is to kiss you. Again, he doesn’t appreciate prying eyes, but his lips will be on yours any moment he can sneak one in whether it be when passing you in the secluded hallways or in the privacy of your room late into the night. He’s a good kisser because he kisses you wholeheartedly every single time. Never a quick, thoughtless peck but always an intense, fervid offering of his whole self.

• L (Love - When does he say he loves you? How often does he say it? Does he prefer to say it or show it?):

Sandor isn’t the best with words, feeling a bit awkward trying to express himself. He’d much prefer to show you how he feels. He says it (very) occasionally, but always softly, perhaps whispered, and earnestly, full eye contact; since it’s not too common for him to say it, he wants to make sure you know it when he does.

• M (Marriage - Does he want to get married? If so, what kind of ceremony?):

The thought of some kind of formal ceremony fills him with immense dread, so if you were to get married, he would want it to be just the two of you and an officiant (but the officiant can fuck off right after…). Marriage isn’t a big deal to him one way or another, so whatever you want, Sandor is happy with.

Sandor Clegane: Pet Names (Headcanons)

• He’s more reserved on calling you any pet names. It takes time for him to grow comfortable enough to use them, and even still, he isn’t likely to use them in the vicinity of anyone else hearing. He can’t help that nagging feeling that maybe you don’t want others knowing of his romantic association with you, even if you assure him time and time again that you’re proud to be his woman.

• He does like to whisper them in your ear during intimate moments, though…

• He won’t admit it nor show it, but it gets him a little excited whenever you use any pet names for him. Especially if you do use them when others can hear.

• Love is what he calls you most commonly.

• Princess he uses more lightheartedly, usually when you’ve managed to convince him to give you your way (which isn’t too uncommon). It matters not if you are actually a princess…

• My One (and Only) is what he calls you only in the most intimate of moments. Because you really are his one and only.

• You’ve taken to calling him My Knight because he makes you feel safe and protected. He argues that he's not a knight, and you argue that he is your knight.

• My Heart is what you call him most often.
