Hi if you are here looking for updates on Agnes nutter horoscopes, it is on a slight hiatus during busy season at work (Nov-Jan). I say slight as I am getting about half a page of typing done every few days, so not a complete stop. We have hit a point of the story draft which was completely reworked from the Nano2019 first draft. My beta (and co-writer at this point) is a full time nurse running Covid, flu, and strep tests. Some of you have been around enough to know she was in nursing school still when we started and I only had a ten year old, not a baby too! We still have a goal of getting it all up before series two is out.

I have decided against NaNo for this year because realistically, I know myself. It took me 3 months in2019 to finish my first draft of horoscopes and we are getting onto late 2021 for posting it. I’m already getting confused during my edits because we shifted the entire timeline.

Plus, I have gone back to work after them begging me. Between work, infant, and downtime, I know I will struggle. And I am DETERMINED not to leave this as a WIP. I shall get this beast posted before season 2.

CH 30 WIP update Agnes Nutter’s Nice and Accurate Horoscope

A lot of big stuff takes place in this chapter originally, but we made the decision to chop it and put the big date scene in 31 because it didn’t fit thematically and was getting too unwieldy. Also, you’ll recognize a very obvious chunk straight from the book. It’s this part of Good Omens which made me think, what if I based an entire AU off stuff like this? And here we are two years later. Also there is one F bomb there, fyi.

“Crowley. Where’d you get this?” Gabriel brandished the paper before snatching it back as Crowley reached out.

 Crowley pushed past his discomfort to attempt another grab for the page and bit downward onto his lip. “I said-”

“Yes, but where? Did you order it to impress us? After all your complaints?” 

“Just- what?” he said warily, drawing close in spite of his concerns. For once, Gabriel’s attention was glued to something other than his proximity to Crowley. Unfortunately, it was on the sheet Aziraphale had scribbled his other number. 

“When did you get a hand penned ‘scope for your own sign?” Gabriel poked his index finger at the page, eyes luminescent in his excitement and curiosity. “Did you see her? Did you go through the Device press itself?” His eyebrow cocked slightly and his grin went sly. “Are you sure you aren’t trying to snag Lucifer’s interest again? Or mine?” he said slower, lower, like he’d made some sort of discovery. 

Crowley’s unease shifted to puzzlement. “I donno what you-”

“Crowley,” Gabriel drawled out.

“What the actual fuck are you on about, Gabriel?” Crowley finally spit out, irritated now in his confusion. He rubbed his now sweaty palms across his thighs, resulting in an awkward squeak of his damp skin on leather. 

 Gabriel stepped so their elbows knocked together and leaned inward to hold the page steady for Crowley to follow along as he read aloud from the now battered sheet. 

     ”Libra. September 24-October 23. For weekly syndicated distribution 12 May 

You may be feeling run down and always in the same old daily round. Home and family matters are highlighted and are hanging fire. Avoid unnecessary risks. A friend is important to you. Shelve major decisions until the way ahead seems clear. You may be vulnerable to a stomach upset today, so avoid salads. Help could come from an unexpected quarter. Agnes N.”

“I don’t. I… Gabriel. I’m not even sure. It’s just a number on scrap paper,” Crowley said, drifting into a murmur. He couldn’t resist reading it over again, his apprehension and confusing warring with each other and capped off with increasing alertness over the way Gabriel stared at him unabashedly.

Why did Aziraphale have a horoscope Gabriel claimed to have been written by Agnes Nutter? He traced the swoop of ink of an overly fancy letter S penned in a classic style of calligraphy. Why would it be sitting on Aziraphale’s table in his bookshop? Well. He was handing Crowley his contact number to reach him at Device Publishing and Nutter’s empire was part of Device...

small update

I still live. My time to access literally sitting on my ass at the computer unencumbered by a small, teething, mucusy human is about 15 minutes a day. I was going to to do Nano this november because I have another fic plotted out, but I don’t know if I can pull it off.

I wrote the bones of Agnes Nutter’s Nice and Accurate Horoscope in fall NaNo of 2019. My dear friend is the beta reader and almost co-creator at this point,(though she thinks I give her too  much credit). She was a nursing student then and is now a full time nurse, so that makes sending the chapters back and forth even slower. But I will finish ANNAH with her. Once I get story #2 written, I will probably need a new beta reader to get those chapters up faster. I won’t post that one until it’s all in second draft already cuz this first draft correction thing is for the birds!!! Second story is a more canon universe and Gabriel will not be a jerk this time, hooray.

Hi, I’m looking for fic where Aziraphale and anathema strike up a friendship or are already friends in an AU. I included one in mine because it seemed to me they would have a shared background in breaking away from what is expected of them. But in reading fic, it appears most people write Crowley as the one becoming friends with her and leave Aziraphale with Madame tracy. Are there any more stories with an Aziraphale-anathema friendship rather than crowley-anathema? Thank you so much!

His roommate’s best friends Anathema and Newt aren’t too bad, either. It’s nice to have some friends. Maybe he likes it in D.C.

Gabriel: He Hath Turn'd A Heaven Unto Hell

I felt like clarifying my earlier Meta on Gabriel’s Gaslighting in Good Omens. 

So like, we know that Gabriel is a dick but what makes him worse (and abusive), is how he uses his position of privilege and power over Aziraphale. 

Even though I’ve read some amazing metas that assert Aziraphale would be canonically higher ranked than the archangels, the bureaucracy favors Gabriel. While Aziraphale may have been given troops to command and a garden to protect, Michael refers to Gabriel’s choices when confronting the evidence against Aziraphale for his demonic “boyfriend”, Sandalphon allows Gabriel to direct the “surprise” meeting in the bookshop, and Gabriel appears at the airfield, in a position equal to Beelzebub, Prince of Hell.  So even if it isn’t a God-ordained position of power, he clearly is treated as the authority figure over Heaven. 

His abuse is rooted in the desire to gain and maintain power and control over Aziraphale. And like real talk, Show!Gabriel is sickeningly effective at emotionally abusing Aziraphale, and his most insidious tool is gaslighting.

Broadly, what I mean is that Gabriel is (trying to) reshape Aziraphale’s perception of reality using techniques like: 

pretending not to understand why Aziraphale is so worried about being unable to stop the war (Withholding); 

purposefully making Aziraphale’s feelings/interests feel insignificant (Trivializing); 

Changing topics when Aziraphale starts to question his or Heaven’s motives for the war(Diverting); 

Forgetting or denying events that have previously happened (Denial)

Purposefully questioning the victim’s memory/even despite knowing their account of events to be true (Countering)

Gaslighting IS abuse. Full Stop.

Although it can masquerade as genuine confusion or concern, the National Domestic Violence Hotline reminds us how over time, these abusive patterns of behaviors lead to a victim who “can become confused, anxious, isolated and depressed while losing all sense of what is actually happening. Then, the victim may start relying on the abusive partner more and more to define reality, which creates a very difficult situation to escape”

Affect on Aziraphale

Because? Honestly? Gabriel’s behavior is not nice, or innocent.  

Who here can honestly say that Aziraphale doesn’t constantly second-guess himself? And that he doesn’t have trouble making decisions?

Or ask himself if he’s too sensitive? too soft?

Maybe that he’s confused, or crazy? That he has to apologize for Heaven/Gabriel’s behavior to friends? That he feels like he has to withhold information to avoid making excuses or explaining Heaven/Gabriel’s behavior?

Does anyone think he’s happy despite apparently “good” things happening for angels? That he should feel happier for his circumstances?  Or that he knows something is terribly wrong, but unable to express what it is? To Gabriel? To God? To Crowley? Even To himself? 

We already know he uses lying as a coping mechanism to avoid put-downs!  And When he’s away from Heaven he’s a radically different person. That he’s more confident, more fun-loving, more relaxed when away from his abusers. 

He’s absolutely joyless around Gabriel, 

and been made to feel he can’t do anything right. 

These are all the symptoms of being gaslit (gaslighted?), and it takes a heavy psychological toll on Aziraphale’s mental health.

He is being controlled. 

Through gaslighting, Gabriel can control Aziraphale’s perception of reality and consequently control his actions.

I read Jurassic Park alongside my son for a change. Parts of the movie are verbatim but there’s a lot of interesting differences which made it a fun read. I was able to head canon my own cast except for Jeff Goldblum as Ian- that one is wedged in there, and the fact that book!Ian still rants in a similar cadence to how Goldblum delivers lines doesn’t help.

Lex is *the* most annoying child character, holy cow.

I’ve read Crichton before and so anticipated how he interprets the science available for the time period and puts his own twist into it. Also, the whole almost part philosophical part mathematical dive into chaos theory really dominates more in the book.

I’m not as fond of the many descriptions of the dinosaurs eating people’s internal organs though. My son, of course, thought it was great and thought the information technology parts were ‘boring old people stuff from a long time ago’.
