(cw: porn/homophobia mention i think)
I don’t know why sapphic women nowadays hate so much on gay men or “BL” Media.
before you start cussing me out, hear me out first.
I can acknowledge that a lot of BL content is just sexualizing gayness in itself, or the taboos of being homosexual, and it can be really unrealistic. it is Especially unrealistic if you live somewhere where being gay is legal and supported, because then you’re just used to it. Then, when you realize how normal being homosexual is, the stories in most BL do not have the same whimsy or excitement to them when you can experience the real thing. If you’re a male, and you’re gay, you can find a boyfriend, and it will likely be nothing like a BL manga heheh. (a crappy one anyway.)
I’m not going to dive to the argument, that women - gay or otherwise - should not be looking at BL because I think we are all past the point of giving a shit. I feel like a lot of gays are cool with fujoshi. Fujoshinever really hurt anyone, they just like art. I feel like we can all agree on that? But whatever, tell me if you disagree with that in the comments.
But something that I’ve noticed ever since 2022, maybe even earlier, is that a lot of queer women specifically hate on gay porn (art usually) whenever they see it in their feed or AT ALL when they weren’t searching for it…. Why though?
i’m sorry, but unless you have some really specific odd trigger from seeing two queer men being romantic/sexual/kinky with each other other,, I don’t understand at all why you are so upset.
I have had lesbian/sapphic friends see me scrolling through my feed, maybe they saw some porn (art), or maybe I sent one of my friends, some gay hentai, thinking they might like it (don’t worry, this is a normal friend activity for me……..) and they have straight up called the art annoying, they’ve called it ugly (when it looked fine, coming from an artist), they’ve said that it’s embarrassing, the list continues. It feels hypocritical, because then I see them looking at very similar art/hentai of women,, “yuri”, and they love it to bits and pieces.
We must start normalizing “this isn’t really my type of thing.” and not “EWWW what the fuck am I looking at, ha ha ha ha ha”
it’s mean, and while it doesn’t affect me personally, I feel like some people out there are gullible (This probably is not the word I’m looking for) enough to listen to their friends make these jokes or comments, and they might start to feel unsure of themselves. As though they need to change themselves to “fit in” with the wlw vibes. It might make a trans boy want to stop being a guy, so that his queerness is more palatable to his sapphic friends.
POLITELY give me your feedback in the comments
