She was Neal’s sister? So his bio dad …
Henry’s brow furrowed as he started to flip through his book. He didn’t remember Bae having a sister back when he first got separated from Rumple, and if he had, she couldn’t be alive still, could she? But if she was born later, why wasn’t she mentioned in the book? She couldn’t be Belle’s child because then she’d be an infant because of the curse …
Finally, after an awkward moment with only the sound of pages turning, Henry gave up and looked to Avery. “You’re not in my book. And you’d make an interesting story so I’m not sure why you aren’t … how are you related to my dad? Did you get caught up in Regina’s curse? Who’s your mom?  If Milah’s your mom how’d you survive? If Belle’s your mom how are you so old?”
Henry didn’t realize he’d gone from completely silent to asking a barrage of questions. Instead he looked at her curiously, wanting to know her story.
Avery was pretty sure he wouldn’t find her in the book that she had heard so much about, but she let him look without interruption anyway. If he was anything like his dad, he was stubborn and would have looked whether she said anything anyway. So she just held her tongue. Sure enough little Henry soon revealed that she wasn’t anywhere to be found in the book at all and she nodded.
“I figured I wouldn’t be,” she replied with a shrug. “I wasn’t around long enough to be in there.”
It was sweet of him to say she’d have been an interesting story though. Truthfully, Avery wasn’t sure what to do with herself. She didn’t really have much of a purpose as far as she was aware. Sure she and Neal had arrived in Storybrooke together and whew was that first meeting with her parents awkward.
But even Emma had been born to be the Savior. Avery, also a child born of true love.. Well she wasn’t sure what she was exactly or if she even had a role. And it being confirmed she wasn’t in the book was just a little more disheartening. But she wouldn’t be telling that to a little boy for obvious reasons. Much less her nephew. Instead she focused as best she could on his rapid questions and snickered.
“I’m Neal’s half sister, my mom is Belle, Papa is Rumplestiltskin. When Regina captured her, my mom was pregnant with me and didn’t realize and gave birth in captivity. Then Regina stole me from her and sent me here through a portal. That’s most likely why I’m not in there.”
She said the last with a nod of her head toward the book.
“So kiddo, may I sit and join you?”
