This is an independent roleplay blog for Astarion Ancunín of Baldur's Gate 3. I run this as a sideblog and I am highly selective about who I interact with, as well as low activity. Undercut are specifications.
The Rules
For interactions, you must be over the age of 18. Due to the material in Baldur's Gate 3, I only want to interact with people who are adults. It's a mature game with mature content, please respect that.
This blog will contain triggering content. Astarion was forced into slavery by Cazador, and was explicitly used to lure victims back with sexual favors, as well as entertain Cazador's guests. That means there is sex trafficking, rape, and other forms of sexual abuse that will be discussed, maybe even implied. I will tag everything triggering that comes up that I can think of. If I miss something, let me know and I will fix it.
I am picky about shipping. Just because he slept with your muse in game doesn't mean he'll sleep with them here. Astarion uses his body for protection at the start of the game, but as the game goes on, he starts to gain his own agency. So I will be particular. One note is I am not a big fan of Redemption!Durge/Astarion on a romantic level. I like them on a platonic level, but not romantic. Here is an explanation of my opinion of what constitutes forced and not forced shipping.
I use minimal formatting and no icons. I don't want to spend more time making icons and formatting than actually writing. I'll tend to use small text unless my partner doesn't, then there's no formatting.
Be polite. Follow basic RP etiquette. No god mode and that. Don't know things about my character ahead of time. Don't badger me for replies/shipping.
DNIs and Callout Posts. I don't do those. You're free to interact with whomever you choose, I know how to use the block button. We're adults, we can figure out if someone's not good for us ourselves.
The Character
My base verse is Remained Spawn!Astarion. That does not mean I won't play Ascended. That being said, Ascended!Astarion will be darker, controlling, more manipulative piece of shit who would only care about a romance partner in a way someone who's possessive over an object would be.
Astarion's background is a lower ranked moon elf noble who was a magistrate. This will influence pieces of things I write. I also imagine him as having had a younger sister before Cazador took him, so there may be references to that as well.
Astarion's moral code is a pendulum. It really depends on context and where he is in his story. During Act 1, he's more chaotic neutral, concerned for himself and his survival. In my base verse, he'll start to go more chaotic good by end of Act 3, but that is highly dependent on the influences around him.
Astarion's main motivator is fear. He fears being back under Cazador's thumb. He fears for his survival. He fears for his existence. He's a trauma survivor still in survival mode in the game. A lot of what he does is reaction to his fear, even if he tries to hide it.
I play Astarion as pansexual with no gender bias. If you don't like that, you can leave. He's an elf; they have a nonbinary view on gender and are more fluid about it. It doesn't make sense to me for him to prefer one presentation over another. What he's attracted to is good looks and he does struggle with his sexuality due to his past, but he has wants and desires.
I play Astarion as Cisgender. Leaning on the previous paragraph about elf views on gender, I don't see anything about Astarion's attitude as anything other than masculine, especially looking at historical context on how men acted. I also feel like cismen and their sexual assault isn't taken seriously enough, so I plan to play Astarion as cis.
I play Astarion as leans more dominant. He's played the pretty frail lover for centuries, but he enjoys being the one with more sway and power in dynamics once he starts to regain his personal agency. He's not fond of the idea of being pushed around, made to be quiet, any of that.
