āBeware of destination addiction: The idea that happiness is in the next place, the next job, or even with the next partner. Until you give up the idea that happiness is somewhere else, it will never be where you are.ā

Sylvia Plathās "The Bell Jar"
āI saw my life branching out before me like the green fig tree in the story. From the tip of every branch, like a fat purple fig, a wonderful future beckoned and winked. One fig was a husband and a happy home and children, and another fig was a famous poet and another fig was a brilliant professor, and another fig was... but I wanted each and every one of them, but choosing one meant losing all the rest... and as I sat there, unable to decide, the figs began to wrinkle and go black, and, one by one, they plopped to the ground at my feet.ā
This passage is striking because it reveals the paradox of choice being so self-aware and overwhelmed by possibilities that you end up doing nothing, and the weight of inaction becomes its own burden.

what Work is the most important? the work you have to do next. narrow the scope of focus down to that singular glittering point.
How to get out of a rut
The first project I did in 2022-23, was an introduction because I felt like I wanted my work to mean something. The best story I knew how to tell at the time was mine. Not leaving behind elements of my culture and things that have shaped me to be the person that I am today. Completing a 21piece project is what gave me a sense of fulfillment that held me together, through the many lows I experienced in the process of executing my ideas.
In essence Iām no longer where I was 2years ago when I started āTshimologo Yentleā. The cores of this body of work were self discovery, learning and growth will always be within me.
