“Supernatural” Chess Set Presented to Jared Padalecki By Sandra Echeverri At EyeCon, Sept 2008. This set was created, completely custom made, and based it on “Supernatural” This is an original set design and created by Sandra Echeverri and Jim Arnold. The idea of this set came to me one day while talking to a friend of mine and I was not able to let it be just an idea in paper, so I decided to make it a reality and here is the final product. I hope you like and enjoy it specially because is my way to thank you for all your hard work and because thanks to you and “Supernatural” I was able to get through some of the most difficult times in my life. The light pieces represent the good side and the dark pieces represent the evil side. The Good side: The Evil side: King – Sam Winchester King - Azazel (YED) Queen – Dean Winchester Queen - Lilith Bishops – John Winchester and Bobby Singer Bishops – Hookman and Scarecrow Knights – The Colt Knights – Hellhounds Rooks – The Impala Rooks – Devil’s gate Pawns – Rock Salt Pawns – Fire Flames The pieces for this set were carved in maple for the Good side, and walnut for the Evil side; the sizes of the pieces are: Kings – base 2” square by 6.5” tall Queens – base 2” square by 6” tall Bishops – base 2” square by 5.5” tall Knights – base 2” square by 4.5” tall Rooks – base 2” square by 3.5” to 4” tall Pawns – base 1.75” square by 3”tal The Chessboard The board was design and created by me, the design comes from the tattoos that Sam and Dean have of the pentagram that protects them from demonic possession. The background painting is done on oil paint; the board is Plexiglas with the squares painted on with frosting paint, and the frame is made of mahogany wood. The size of the chessboard is 24” square, and the squares of the board are 2.5” x 2.5” each.
