not a study post. i'm annoyed.

do higher ed institutions want first-gen/low income students to kill themselves? i have schools with billion dollar endowments hounding me for $100 grad application fees because the documentation i provided for them was last year since i'm technically on my program's scholarship instead of financial aid for this year. like do you really think my situation has changed that much in a year and that this program pays me enough to be able to afford anything?

meanwhile i've had an advisor, who is most definitely not from the same/a similar background, basically imply that i haven't experienced real hardship and i shouldn't bring anything up in my personal statements all while not paying me enough to be able to afford health insurance through the school because i would NOT have health insurance otherwise. but yeah keep discouraging me from getting a job outside of this program because it might affect my grades...

sometimes i seriously question if it's worth doing this.

i'm done with this semester? (unless i completely forgot something or one of my groupmates wants me to fix something before our deadline tomorrow)

having that feeling of not being satisfied with how everything went but also so glad it's over. i feel kind of like the bird in the picture.

4/12ish applications done but waiting on a rec letter still which has been really frustrating.

i have not been the most consistent with posting on here but i have been consistent with studying. in 24 hours this analysis class will be behind me and i'll be free, just a few more hours of locking in 😭. and in 1 week i'll have submitted a few grad apps. so few things between me and break.

kind of locked in today on grad apps. i think my list is finally FINALLY set and my deadlines are more spread out than i thought with only 5 due on the 15th. in total spent about 4h40m including emailing back n forth with a recommender who had already written the letter (shoutout).

it feels like there's so little between me and the end of this semester and app season so yay? (trying not to crash out)

i had zeroooo motivation to finish anything, but the assignments were done (ish, and one was submitted late oops) and break starts now. which means the grad apps grind starts now.

productive for a little under 2 hours, which isn’t much but an improvement from last week :D

slightest bit of studying for real analysis (problem set due tuesday. anyone have tips on studying measure theory?)

some work on grad school apps. i have a better idea of how to restructure my personal statements now.

meeting tmr with research group for our final presentation, will hopefully get work done on campus.

dreary day

submitted my conference travel requests which were annoying to complete. also met with my group for our final coding project (i don’t know what i’m doing but will do my damndest to figure it out), so that’s 2 out of the 4 things i have due on tuesday.

worked a bit on my other 2 things (homework assignments) and will continue on those this weekend

started reading the murder of roger ackroyd by agatha christie 🔍📖
