Meet the Thief

While things with Tulio and Miguel went alright for a while, Chel eventually got tired of playing third wheel to their whatever they had. She got them drunk, got them into bed, then slipped out in the middle of the night while they were busy with each other. They didn't seem to notice, and she didn't mind. They were fun, but there was more out there for her to see. She did help herself to a few trinkets on the way out though. For the next couple of months she wandered her way around the Caribbean, fast talking, flirting and occasionally fucking her way onto ships bound for somewhere new. Which was how she found herself in Havana, perusing an open market for something to 'buy'. A stone fish with a pair of stunningly bright crystal eyes caught her attention. While the stall's owner was talking to another costumer, she swiped. Only, she hadn't been the only person interested in the piece. They caught up to her barely a block away. A trio of big, rough looking men, led by a blonde woman. At first they threatened to report her for the theft if she didn't hand it over, then they simply tried to take it. Chel slipped the first man, stomped on the second's foot and kicked the third in the balls before taking off running. The men gave chance, and they'd have caught her if somebody hadn't pulled her into an alley, disguising her escape by knocking over a stack of barrels. Once they were away from the men, her savior introduced herself as Kida, said the fish she'd stolen was an important cultural artifact and offered to buy it off Chel. Smelling a bigger score than a few coins, Chel countered: Half of whatever the real payout was. Kida said it would be dangerous. Chel said she didn't care. Kida said she'd ask her the captain. Impressed with Chel's spirit, Santiago agreed to bring her along, but only for an equal share, not half. Thoroughly intrigued by now, Chel agreed. The fish didn't end up leading to a great treasure, but it did lead to plenty of adventure, and when it was over, Chel signed onto the ship for another cruise. She didn't have any better plans after all, might as well see where this road leads. Artist: KiraSs

Meet the Sisters

When Elsa’s powers were exposed on the night of her coronation, Prince Hans was able to rally the people of Arendell behind himself and Anna, locking away Elsa, “for her own safety”. For a few months Hans worked behind the scenes to consolidate power, while Anna devoted most of her time to tying to help Elsa gain some control of her powers. It was only when her access to Elsa was suddenly restricted just as they started really making progress that she realized something might be wrong. On her way to confront Hans about it, she overheard him scheming to his two assistants to do away with Elsa after the wedding. Anna's entire understanding of the world came crashing down over night.

With the wedding only days away, she broke her sister out of her cell, babbling everything she’d discovered as they fled together towards the docs. Knowing a ship was their only chance out of the city, but unwilling to trust any trader who had been there longer than a few days, Anna made a deal with the only Captain she believed might not already be in Hans's employ, a man who'd only arrived that morning: Captain Santiago. Offering enough money to buy their anonymity, Anna chartered passage anywhere but there. She didn’t know it at the time, but those two factors told Santiago all he needed to know about the situation.

Three of Hans’s ships caught them before they'd left the fjord. Flanked by two of the ships, and with the third pulled along side, it seemed as if Santiago would turn the sisters over. Hans was offering a hefty bounty for their return after all. Elsa was moments away from blanketing the entire deck of his ship in ice and trusting their fates to the ocean when the captain's true intentions became clear. His ‘negotiations’ for their return had been a ruse to buy enough time for Moana and Ariel to get into position to cripple the flanking vessels, leaving only the one drawn up alongside them for the negotiations. 

The fighting was brief but intense, and during it Elsa’s powers were revealed to the crew when she was forced to blast a soldier away from Anna. Once again she prepared to defend herself, only to find herself not among superstitious sailors, but friends. Ariel, Tiana and Moana all offered their guidance in helping her to understand her powers, and Santiago offered them both a place among his crew.

Anna has taken to life as Pirate eagerly, learning to cuss and fight and more or less inserting herself into every aspect of ship life she can. Elsa has remained more aloof. While she appreciates the assistance with her powers, years of isolation followed by the sudden enforced intimacy of the ship have left her struggling to adjust. Anna’s attempts to try to get her out of her shell, along with the months they spent bonding while Elsa was in captivity have led to the development of feelings neither had expected, and both would have shunned were they anywhere else. Aboard the Menagerie though, surrounded by casual carnality on a nearly daily basis, the need for connection drove them into each other’s arms. And once Anna caught feelings for the captain, Elsa found herself pulled along in her sister’s wake.

✨ Disney & Dragons ✨

Turned a bunch of Disney Heroes into DnD characters for this week’s speedpaint! Real fun concept to play around with :D

What are the other princesses up to in the menagerie world? Is it just regular canon shenanigans? Or would they be off having their own adventures and possibly join the crew (only if you're interested in them of course)?

I'm sure I'll find a way to work in some of the others if I want to down the line. I've got a few other characters mapped out: Merida is a lord in Scotland, who helped Santiago get his letter of marque during the war of Spanish Succession, which is what led the Menagerie down to the Caribbean in the first place. Jane Porter is an explorer and naturalist, who has hired the Menagerie and the Ulysses on different occasions for different expeditions. The Ulysses, with Rourke and crew are another group in the world, rivals of the Menagerie in hunting artifacts from Atlantis. Captain Amelia Smollett is a Royal Navy officer who has both hunted and supported Santiago and crew on different occasions. Those are the characters I've worked up storylines or places in the world for so far. But I'll ad more as more ideas come to me.
