Yang liked Blake first you can’t change my mind

I’ve recently been looking back through all of volume one chapters for any symbolism I could catch but what i got instead just made me re-evaluate alot of things.

Specifically Volume 1, chapter 3

When Blake lit the candle, this is Yangs first reaction

Then it turns into this

A fucking grin

Then it cuts to Blake and Ruby says “That girl…” then Yang asks if she knew her.

Meaning she wanted to know more about her.

Yang Listens and Ruby says that she left before could say anything.

Then Yang has that huge stupid grin and gets an idea…

“Now’s your chance!”

Yang wants to get to know Blake so she used Ruby’s situation as an excuse to get closer to Blake while of course helping Ruby befriend her.

But the point is she wants to be close to Blake. I wasn’t so sure of this idea until i saw how she presented herself infront of Blake.

I was expecting Yang to be behind Ruby and be pushing her but she always wants to be a few steps closer to Blake

And also

LOOK AT THAT STANCE!!!

It’s like she just wants to impress her with her height and her….physique

Then she continues to say panicked compliments as if she doesn’t wanna lose her attention.

And saying panicked compliments like…

“I like your bow!!!”

“It goes great with your……(fuck what do i say?!?!???!)…..pajamas!!!!!”

“NICE NIGHT DON’T YA THINK?!?!?”

It just feels so panicked and desperate behind that smile shes doing

The point is

YANG DOESNT KNOW HOW TO TALK TO BLAKE SO IN A DESPERATE ATTEMPT AT HIDING HER GAY AF PANICK, SHE USES RUBY’S RELATIONSHIP WITH BLAKE AS A WAY TO GET TO KNOW AND GET CLOSE TO HER

there’s a simple explanation to this, though!

when you are planning to do something, you are taking responsibility. you are maintaining agency in your own life.

the moment someone else says “hey pick up your shit” then it becomes their command and your response to them. No longer do you get told “hey wow you picked up nice!” you get told “why did it take you so long to do what i asked”

Naturally, hearing that enough times creates a pattern of “rebellion” whereupon ANY request to do ANYTHING you’ve been planning to do immediately sours it
