Week 1 Project: My Full Sail Story
Before I started Full Sail I felt quite lost. I was eighteen with an associates degree in liberal arts, and unsure of what my next move was. I had always thought I wanted to go to school to study law, or at least some form of generic education. I assumed that those degrees would make me the most money, and that I would be happy. Until such time, I was stuck working a full time job as a server, pulling overtime to make more money, and was miserable with the direction my life seemed to be going. But then, during a time I felt most stressed, I remembered what made me happy; film and photography. The idea of creating an image or even a short video that told a story or conveyed a specific mood excited me. It reminded me that there's more to my life than just bills and an education that I would never truly love or understand. Because of that reminder, anytime the stress of working to be financially stable got under my skin, I went out with my roommate and had amateur photoshoots. We travelled to random places, and went on different adventures in fun costumes. She let me use her as my model and we brainstormed short film ideas together. Because of those experiences with her I grew more and more comfortable with a camera in my hands. And because of this I had a camera with me almost every where we went. Her encouragement and support only fueled my desire to be in the film industry. Finally, after many months of stressing over a balance between my education and what made me happy, I decided to enroll in Full Sail. And ever since then I’ve been pursuing my passion for film and photography through Full Sail’s online DCBS program.
