OKAY I'll say all of my thoughts here.

let me make it clear that I still do adore Fireafy and think they're super cute and fun. But they are not perfect. They are not perfect for each other. I don't think they're unfixably toxic and abusive, but I think they have problems. They are two people who are impulsive, avoid their problems, and are incredibly sensitive to rejection. And I know that Leafy at least has severe abandonment issues. I'm not saying this means they can't be together. I think they can still be best friends.

But there is no world where I can imagine running away together to live in isolation from everyone else they know is good for either of them. These two had two serious conversations and want to sail away together? It's literally just saying let's go get more codependent together! Yay! And then we're supposed to look at this like it's a good choice and will make them happier.

These two will have one minor disagreement and it will get blown out of proportion because they aren't good at handling conflict. And they'll both think it's over and spiral about it. This is what the drawing is showing!! And it's important to me that the argument they had wasn't even about anything important. They just disagreed about something. But they have a habit of assuming the worst.

This is why it's important for other people to be around. If they had someone else to talk to(whether to talk about the issue and get advice or just to have fun) they could cool off and approach it again more rationally. I don't know about Firey, but I know that Leafy is incredibly social and would benefit from having people to talk to besides Firey when they're mad at each other.

In general. Only having one person you interact with ever isn't healthy. I can't speak for all of human nature, but I can least speak about Leafy. She has isolation trauma. She needs lots of friends. Firey isn't a terrible person or a bad friend for not being the person Leafy needs at every moment, you're supposed to have other people to rely on.

No hate to anyone who does write them having cute and fun times on their cool island, I still think it's cute! It just doesn't feel ideal for them.

In the end I am actually so glad One kidnapped Leafy and took them off their little island and will be so disappointed if tpot ends and they go back there. No guys your friends. Stop being codependent and hang out with more people. Isolation still isn't a good thing

this month marks a whole TEN YEARS since i initially got into battle for dream island, and subsequently, woodleaf!!! as their founder (i think) i absolutely HAD to draw them. i thought it'd be fun to imitate how i drew them in 2016 and compare it to how i draw them now :") also added a ramble detailing my history with them. oh leafy & woody you will always be special to me
