It wouldn’t be a travel trip if I didn’t wait until after the trip to post pictures and updates, hahaha. I am currently sorting through my pictures while in Japan, and finished in Korea, so expect some updates soon :)
Hey there everyone, long time no see. Per request of my mother to post every day so that my family knows I’m alive, I thought it’d be best to start posting on my blog again during my travels so you can check out what’s going on. I’m aiming to post here every single day during my month in Japan and Korea. It could be a lengthy post or some pictures or just a few words.
My mom asked an interesting question to me while I was packing last night because I never pack earlier than 48 hours, and asked me “how was I feeling” as I embark on my travels. It always takes me a minute to think, so some emotions I landed on are
Overwhelmingly excited.
A little overwhelmed.
A little sad.
Pensive.
It’s good to know how you’re feeling; it can affect how your trip goes or how you engage (speaking from experience). Either way, I am stoked to start travelling and see how long I can use Japanese and Korean until I start resorting to body gestures. Let the party begin!
Would you believe me if I said these past 2 months have been crazy? Probably not because I didn’t post as often as I would have liked, haha. I am still going to record my time abroad on here, despite no longer being in Spain.
That’s right, if it’s not too hard to believe, I have been back from Spain for roughly two months now! It has been interesting adjusting to life back in the States these past few weeks. There have been action-packed weeks, and very dull weeks. And somehow in this craziness I managed to land my first full-time architecture job! Today was my first day at work, and it was a lot of administrative work, but it was also filled with planning and even a mini-project (got a deadline of tomorrow afternoon!).
As I said, I will have more time to update this blog with pictures and posts of study abroad past. But this was just a small post to say what’s going on in my life. Stay cool, y'all.
Spring Travel Break 1: What just happened...? (pt 1)
For anyone reading this blog, I would like to remind you that travelling isn't always smooth sailing. When you travel, you learn something new. And within the first few hours of setting out for my two week trvel trip, I learned some valuable things.
When you're leaving for an AM flight, either sleep in the airport, or if you're going to wake up and go, wake up earlier than you think it'll take.
Even if you pack the night before, double check and triple check before you leave out.
Make sure your wallet is secure and on your person.
Yes, all important things. I hope you learn from me and prepare yourself accordingly. :)

Our flight leaves sometime around 10:00am or somethig along those lines. Some of us in the group went to sleep a bit later, so we had already been a bit behind schedule. We're walking pretty fast to the train station that takes us into Barcelona, and mid-walk I realize I left my wallet on my desk. So I make a mad-dash backto my dorm room, get my wallet and put it in my coat pocket. I run back and catch up with my friends at the train station.
At this point, we take the train to Barcelona (Placa Catalunya) and we're planning on taking the bus into the airport. Mind you, we're like super behind schedule. We take the bus, which is ~25 minute bus ride. By the time we get to the airport, we have 14 minutes to get to our terminal before the gates close.
Fourteen. Minutes. Let me emphasize that again. 14 minutes, to check into our flight, go through TSA, and go through what feels like miles of airport shopping malls to get to our terminal. Once we get off the bus, we make a mad dash through the airport, get our tickets checked, go through TSA, and run for dear life. In this mad-dash, I managed to lose my wallet, which I don't realize until I get to the terminal (which luckily, our gate didn't close; thank goodness).
Just about everything I needed to survive on this trip was in that wallet; Spanish debit card, American credit card, student ID cards, Spanish residency cards, train tickets for my return back to Spain, physical cash... you can imagine at this point I wasn't in the most calm of states. Do I go back and try to find my wallet and chance missing my flight? Or do I stay on the flight and go two weeks without a wallet?
I made some phone calls, cancelled my cards, and chose to go forward. How the heck am I going to survive this travel break without my wallet?
Man, if you thought my blog was looking pretty empty lately...
I've had such an eventful past two weeks. Filled with stories, a (suprising) abundance of Mexican food, and photos. Lots. of. photos. School is starting up, but expect to hear what I did for my travel break in the oncoming days.
