It’s not just the whole “it’s like drowning except you can see everyone around you breathing” cliché. It’s everyone standing on a frozen lake and you’re the only one that falls through. If you drift too far, you have to bang on the ice as everyone looks down and watches you. If you’re still where you fell through, you can try and get out from that hole. But even then, you can’t fully get out because you’re stuck clawing at the ice and snow; trying to keep yourself from going back under.
