lol feeling compelled to make a good omens post. why can’t we have happy endings any more? If anything deserved a straightforward happy ending it was this show
also looking back, the tone of season 1 and most of season 2 was NEVER this serious and dark. It was pure fluff! even when they argue it’s clear they are going to make up and I think most people after season 2, the long wait, the near cancellation, the assurance it would be for fans, expected this finale to give aziraphale and crowley a sweet happy ending. not kill them, their entire history and the universe.
the finale was the most self important self serious gaiman shit ever. I hoped with him out of the project and the TP estate more involved they would make it feel more pratchetty but nope!!!
And even if this was the ending TP intended (though it reeks of gaiman) it was clearly meant for the book versions not the show versions who have a much more complex, romantic relationship.
I could type out all the issues: character and plot inconsistencies, lack of cathartic release/resolutions for Aziracrow, unclear/confusing dialog, telling and not showing, DESTROYING THE CHARACTERS THEIR HISTORY AND THE UNIVERSE so nobody can enjoy the past seasons anymore or play in the world because it NEVER EXISTED, but my main issue is the complete lack of FUN. As much as season 2 felt like a different show, this one was even farther from season 1. I have to say I’m really disappointed with the direction. It lacked character moments and meaningful, important reactions and inserts that were commonplace in the other seasons.
Special effects looked good.
edit: I also think it is truly bizarre and unsettling to see the actors and creators talk about how much they know people care about the characters, that they wanted to give them a resolution and ending and then chose the worst option possible.
