HIIIII GUUUUYS IT’S THEORY TIME!!!!!!!
This is actually my first experience of posting a theory or analysis of something not only on this blog, but basically anywhere on the Internet hehe AND PLEASE ALSO KEEP IN MIND THAT ENGLISH IS NOT MY NATIVE LANGUAGE SOOO PERHAPS SOME OF MY TURNS OF SPEECH MAY LOOK ODD
Today I would like to analyze the character of the Puppeteer from the recently released The Backstage DLC of Little Nightmares 3 and speculate on what kind of connection she and the Big Kin might have.
I've been thinking about what kind of connection the Puppeteer and The Big Kin might have since the release of The Backstage DLC, due to The Big Kin being basically one of my favorite monsters in the LN universe. Personally, I think that the Big Kin came to the Nowhere from the real world as an adult, (as evidenced by the spelling of the name of the carnival location in the Italian manner), but let's imagine that he got there as a child. Or rather, not him, but her. Remember Hush, the girl with the sock doll from Descent to Nowhere comic series? She also has a puppet on her arm, even if it’s a sock puppet. Let's assume that Hush and her sock puppet became the Kins at some point.
The Kin gives the impression of being quite introverted and even unsociable even though she is some kind of a ringmaster at the Carnevale, the fact that her constant companion is a smaller version of herself literally screams about it. So, it would be strange if someone like the Puppeteer existed side by side with the Kin. The puppeteer is beautiful, she's graceful, she's flawless. I think The Kin likes to be the center of attention, even though she's totally introverted.
Speaking of the Puppeteer's impeccable appearance, it should be noted that she looks impeccable by human standards. Residents have a distorted perception of beauty, if we look back to that room with masks from the Hospital location, which the residents most likely consider beautiful, since they are ready to replace their real face with them. Even Noon, in the Sounds of Nightmares, referred to the Puppeteer as the "Perfect Lady," which once again emphasizes that she is beautiful even from a human perspective.
It is not specified anywhere who exactly created the Puppeteer, who, apparently, is a wind-up doll herself. And personally, I think it was created by the Kin.
So why did she create the Puppeteer?
Because the Kin sees herself in her. More precisely, an alternative self. Herself, but if she hadn't given herself up to escapism (of course if we consider the Nowhere as an allegory for escapism). She definitely regrets staying in Nowhere. And quite often she thinks about what a beautiful woman she would have been if she lived an ordinary human life.
Also, to prove my theory, I can consider the female-shaped mannequins in the cabin of the Kins at the Carnevale. Perhaps the Kin sometimes wears clothes associated with the female gender. We only know of two human-sized residents aboard the Carnival. But there's only one of them in the Kins' cabin.
Both Kin and the Puppeteer have red hair, by the way. Hush was also depicted as redhaired on one of the covers of Descent into Nowhere.
Should this be regarded as an allegory for a transgender transition? Or vice versa, as an allegory for de-transition? It's up to you. I'm just sharing my thoughts.
