Do you think Brute and Brick would get along? What kind of relationship do you think they'd have.
they're kind of like opposite sides of the "isolationist sibling" coin. this does not mean they get along whatsoever lmao
the self-pitying, self-sabotaging nature of brick's behavior isn't something that would resonate with brute very well. they're both selfish, self-motivated individuals at their core but the way this manifests in each of them is in polar opposite directions. brute wouldn't find reason in entertaining the company of someone who purposefully gets in the way of their own ambitions and doesn't wring out their resources 'til the last drop.
she's all about the next milestone. she's got plans and criteria to meet, she's got a long-term goal (take over the underbelly of the entire continent) - failure isn't an option. yes, she cut off her sisters to achieve this goal. no, she doesn't feel any remorse over it. brute has not handicapped herself with self-made burdens or sob stories. as a person she's wholly unempathetic to the plight of those around her, if not revelling in being the cause of their misery first hand.
brick is… not these things. a bad brother, sure ! he's not the most likeable guy around, but he's annoying in the way that tryhard edgy middle schoolers tend to be (and pathetic, as this behavior carries on into adulthood.) but he's got a way out. he's susceptible to wake-up calls and reality checks; he doesn't want to be a bad person.
to be honest, i think brick would be scared of brute. which hopefully isn't too off-putting, since i know a lot of people like buffing brick up as a 'chosen one' style indomitable force a lot of the time, but it shouldn't be too surprising given how i've characterized him up 'til now.
there's a lot of lines that brick draws, that brute crosses right over. again: he's not a bad person, just self-absorbed and entrenched in a martyr complex. while it's an active decision for him to be that way, it's not the same as brute actively deciding she's going to be a real life criminal. i've said this before, but brute steps out of the realm of gimmicky villain and into genuine threat [in my hc]. she's not a part of the usual carousel of opponents the powerpuff girls fight on the daily - she's, in comparison, untouchable.
and brick's not an idiot. he knows when to pick his battles: brute is certainly one he'll pass on. the fact she tends to pay attention to butch is a cause for concern but unless some kind of intervention is needed he'll keep his tail between his legs and avoid eye contact. she's a shark; she smells fear like blood in the water.
at times, there might be a subtle battle for dominance on the rare chance they're in the same room. earlier on in their interactions i imagine brick probably tried to out-intimidate brute only to be swiftly put in his place.
brute could crush him like a bug. she won't, as long as he stays out of her way.
even if there wasn't this tension between them, i don't think they'd get along very well. if they were both just normal people, if they didn't carry around the weight of their decisions, there's no way they'd be able to tolerate each other. in a way, brute is everything brick thinks he is: she's cold and distant, will tear into people without a second's thought - and if her words aren't enough, her fist surely is. she has very few friends and many enemies.
brute is content to live like this but wouldn't tolerate brick's inability to appreciate what he has. aloof and mysterious as he may think he seems, he's an open book. and nothing he has to share is of value.
they'd fight if brick had more balls. get his ass handed to him a few times and cower away in humiliation, before starting it all over again the next day. brute's sheer existence would probably get under his skin solely for what she represents. brute doesn't actually pay much attention to brute unless brick makes her - he's irrelevant.
brick's under the impression they have the relationship of a fly caught in a spider's web. to brute, he's little more than ant beneath her boot.
// i think the intensity and ferocity of their 'relationship' (or lack thereof) can change depending on if brute's more involved with the ppg and rrb - ie; if she's getting closer / more acquainted with buttercup and/or butch. the closer she is, the more of a threat she is on brick's radar; he may be distant, but he cares for his brothers in his own useless way.
so long as they stay out of each other's way, there's hardly any hiccups because they simply avoid each other. but if needs must, brute would crush him in her fist like a grape. pop.
