I hate that tofu has such a bad rap just bc it’s vegetarian/vegan friendly. I am neither vegetarian nor vegan but I love tofu and think it should be fully appreciated for the little soybean miracle that it is. Like do you people not understand how amazing it is??
It literally soaks up any flavor! You can cut it up into little cubes or rectangles and marinate those little suckers and they’ll taste amazing. AND you can pan fry it, bake it, whatever you want! Fuck, you could even eat it raw bc it isn’t meat and it won’t hurt you!
Next, tofu has so many textures that it works with basically any menu item. You can throw silken tofu into smoothies for extra protein! Extra firm tofu is great for stirfrys! Soft tofu goes well in scrambles and you can put it in a burrito and it tastes so good. Like the possibilities are endless and amazing!
And that’s not even to fucking mention the fact that tofu is a cheap form of protein. I hopped on the tofu train as a broke grad student who couldn’t afford $8.99 for a pound of chicken. Instead I was grabbing a pack of tofu (which, coincidentally, stays fresh for WEEKS in the fridge) and the fucker would cost $3 MAX.
All I’m saying here is don’t fucking knock tofu unless you have a diagnosed soybean allergy bc it’s actually a beautiful, versatile, affordable, plant-based protein and if you don’t put some respect on its name then you’re nothing more than a fucking coward and I will knock you in the head with a snowball of silken tofu to rid you of your ignorance. For fucks sake.
