Why do you like Honestly by chewingonpearls? Aren't you offended by how weak and pathetic Sakura is? She could get raped and abused by Sasuke but she'd forget about it because he's hot. Where is her back bone or her self-respect? This fic seriously made me question if I want to be in fandom. Sakura is so disrespected in this fic. Congratulations! Woah woah, calm down. First, I would like to apologize for the very late reply. I actually saw this message awhile back but due to the overwhelming college’s stuff and midterms, I just had time to sit down and type out a reply since my midterms finished 2 days ago.Uhm, I don’t see why are you so upset about it? I mean in the end of the day, it’s my preferences. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I enjoy reading Sakura being the weak character in a fanfiction. I don’t really enjoy that at all. It’s more of the premise, the plot and the settings of the story that I like. I also enjoy the author’s writing style. It always reminded me of Ouran High School Host Club, one of my favorite anime of all time. And also it’s an AU? It’s a story where you throw characters from another universe to a modern universe. It’s all about the freedom of imaginations. Like okay, I get what you are trying to say and I do have to agree there are a lot of fanfictions that portrayed Sakura as such character. In fact, I have a few fanfictions that I can remember that depicts Sakura way worse than this. Well I can see you’re upset how Sakura were portrayed in this fanfiction. I’m not the author so I can’t really answer but I can give you my opinion. So what do you expect her to do in that situation? Let Sasuke sued her for crashing his car? So she can end up in jail or a lifetime debt? Yes, those scenarios you speak off can happen, but it didn’t. Why? Because Sasuke have self-respect for her and for himself. He’s not some some rich pervert who would want to have sex with every girl that come his way. And also if it’s not obvious enough, Sasuke actually like her. He like her since he first met her in the bar a long time ago. He let her work for him because he like her, and she like him back. Also, they signed a contract. A piece of black and white paper that probably stated all sorts of terms and conditions, and Sakura was the one who demanded it. If she’s that fangirl you had portrayed, she won’t even think logically and decided on a contract. She would probably had just offered her body up to him the first day she met him. She didn’t. Why? Because she have self-respect for herself. Just because she had a crush on him doesn’t mean she would automatically give herself to him. So they signed a contract and she had to work for Sasuke. And it’s not like he’s not paying her, she does get paid for what she does. At the end of the day, this is suppose to be a lighthearted and humorous fanfiction, I still don’t see why you are upset about it. It’s a fanfiction. Fans are the one who wrote them. Yes, they are fics that stayed true to the characters’ personalities but there are a lot that doesn’t or there are some who slightly altered them. Why? Because we are not the original author. We don’t really know how the characters is suppose to think, in all honesty. Naruto is not a novel where you can read from the character’s point of view. It’s a manga and we just get what we see. And we go from there. Every person has their rights to portrayed the character as how they wanted them to be. This is why there are haters and we can do nothing about it. If they feel like Sakura is weak to them, then it’s their opinion. At the end of the day, it’s all about not rubbing your opinions onto someone else. I am getting out of topic here but there’s a point I would like to make. For example, if you don’t like SasuSaku, then it’s your opinion, your preference. I won’t go all anal about how you dislike them, as long as you don’t rub it on me. My friend doesn’t like a certain pairing that I like, do I go and harass them to ask them why she doesn’t like them? I don’t. She like a character that I don’t like, does she comes to me and question my taste? No. So what I’m trying to say is, everyone is entitle to their views and opinions. There’s no right or wrong in this case. There are delusional fans who refused to accept SasuSaku is canon, but do I go to their Tumblr and start spamming hate messages? I don’t, because SasuSaku is canon and they are entitle to their own opinion. -Winnie
