Sometimes I wander through Neomuna and just admire all the art and abstract designs and stylistic motifs. I gotta try doing studies of some of this stuff.
The ship mural in Striders' Gate (where you turn to go to Zephyr Concourse) is fascinating. What is it depicting? Why do those ships look so similar to viking vessels? Is this a figurative depiction of the original colonists coming to Neptune on the Exodus Indigo? If so, why two ships? That curving shape near the top is likely one of Neptune's rings, but what's up with the cloud right next to it that seems to be full of poukas? Something about this particular depiction of poukas feels almost angelic, which I love.
You would think a huge eyeball would be creepy, but there's something almost friendly about the one painted on a wall in Esi Terminal, or at least non-threatening. It seems like some paracausal entity that's watching, but which means no harm; maybe this vibe is from all the little human figures painted around it, clearly people relaxing and playing. Could this be the Veil, surrounded by the Neomuni citizens it (perhaps unintentionally) helps to protect? Heck, could it even be III?
The jellyfish mural in Zephyr Concourse makes me wonder what sorts of marine life Neptune might have. It could be showing a few animals from Earth, including both jellyfish and a school of actual fish, but why include a pouka? Of course, it could simply be intended to be whimsical.
There's one recurring design throughout the city that shows poukas. These have the vibe of art that the city council probably officially commissioned, but are far from soulless. One of these recurring poukas is the colors of the transgender flag, which is interesting.
It's 5:45 AM now. I should go to bed. I'm gonna examine more Neomuni art later though and I would LOVE to hear your thoughts if you have any
The giant eye mural could also be Ahsa (as a kind of Easter egg for what was to come). This is the key art for Season of the Deep.
I definitely think the trans flag colours are intentional on the Pouka murals too! If you look at the Radiosonde building in Liming Harbour from the right angle, it also has the flag colours in a way that seems intentional.
(I took this picture from the forbidden low resolution Neomuna while OOB so got a slightly better view of it than you get from playing the game properly XD).
