sometimes taking care of yourself isn’t just drinking more water or taking a nice bath with some bath bombs or treating yourself to sweets. sometimes it’s taking a shower in the morning even if you don’t even want to get up, putting yourself out there and socializing, telling yourself everything will work out, taking a break from work midday to have a good laugh. in whatever way you need to, just make sure you’re taking care of yourself today.
“I’ve damaged my body before it even was done with growing. My brain got damaged before I was 10 years old.”

“It’s easy for them to say that I did survive, so I can do it next time. The point is, they don’t know how I survived. They don’t know about the things I had to do to keep myself alive. Because yes, I did survive. But I had to give myself lots of new scars. I had to hurt myself, so my hurting heart wouldn’t be the main problem at that point. No one understands what I felt all those days and nights. The pain in my heart, and my mental pain, went literally through my chest. O god, I am still scared for this called ‘chest pain’. Thoughts of suicide were there as well, and even though I survived the attempt, I still did it. Not because I didn’t want to be here anymore. I just couldn’t take the pain any longer. Yes I survived. But no one knows how.”

I’ve been in a body that experiences a lot of pain and frequently malfunctions for so long that I really don’t have a gauge for normal bodies anymore. How long can a healthy person stand? How long can they walk? Is there a point where they can’t sit anymore because they are in so much pain too???
I honestly have to ask the people in my life all of the time because I forget that some body things are really Not Normal even though I’ve categorized them as such because my body does them so often. Which means I forget to tell doctors because I’ve already categorized them as part of the normal Mass Horrific Body Experience.
I feel like I am not enough and too much at the same time
A little progress each day adds up to big results.
You don’t have to be grateful that it isn’t worse.
read that. read it again, and again, and again. somebody, somewhere, always has it worse than you. there is one person on this planet that has it the worst of all, and that person is NOT the only person allowed to be unhappy with their lot. if things are bad for you, they are bad for you. period.
me, the entire day: oh my god i’m so tired, i can’t wait to go to back to sleep
me, at 3 AM:
you deserve to feel joy
if it makes you unable to get out of bed: you’re not faking it
if it makes you unable to think straight: you’re not faking it
if it makes you unable to brush your hair in the morning: you’re not faking it
even if you’re still able to work and smile during the day but unable to sleep or move later that day because of it: you’re not faking it
if it effects you in any way: you are not faking it
THIS IS REAL, don’t second guess yourself because others do
