ive read A Lot of wikipedia articles about france between approx. 1789-1848 over the past few days and there was just.. so much going on. all the time
if ever you find yourself going "can political events SLOW DOWN PLEASE!!" just remember that the average french peasant in 1794 was thinking the exact same thing only they had to worry about dying of tuberculosis as well as whether their politicians were murdering each other. again
Books I Read in 2024: What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher
"They say mushrooms spring up where the Devil walks"
Ladies if they:
discovered a horrible zombie fungus beneath a lake
discovered some kind of pneumonia moth ghost
discovered both a friendly and a murderous gelatinous slime in a coal mine
They're not a man, they're the world's unluckiest (or luckiest?) gender neutral soldier, Alex Easton.
i started reading What Moves the Dead bc everyone was like wow nonbinary transmasc MC!!!!!!! but I'm going to be honest with you folks I don't think that a military focused society that forces people to be soldiers to shed their identity and become a masculine but genderless pawn of the failing war machine is like. a serve. I think that may be part of the horror actually.
the last couple of days I've been noticing way more buds than usual on the branches of trees and bushes. I think something big is about to happen
changing my mindset from βif I donβt keep my home clean iβm a useless horrible failureβ to βi deserve to live in a comfortable, clean environment, so i will do my best to provide myself with thatβ has been fairly life changing
and it applies to so much!!!! i try to take whatever iβm beating myself up over, like βi havenβt been eating enough veggies lately so i suck as a human,β and instead reframe it as βmy body deserves all the important nutrients found in vegetablesβ and suddenly iβm ten billion times more inclined to actually prioritize eating more veggies
shame is a paralytic!!!!! self compassion is an actual motivator!!!!!
I did this on the train to work bc silly me didnβt have a Halloween post bc silly me posted it like two weeks ago instead.
This meme comes around every year and every year I think itβs the funniest thing in the world.
βTis ween my fellows!!
