When I was young I asked more of people than they could give: everlasting friendship, endless feeling. Now I know to ask less of them than they can give: a straightforward companionship. And their feelings, their friendship, their generous actions seem in my eyes to be wholly miraculous: a consequence of grace alone.

The only thing “free” about so-called free time is that it doesn’t cost the boss anything. Free time is mostly devoted to getting ready for work, going to work, returning from work, and recovering from work. Free time is a euphemism for the peculiar way labor, as a factor of production, not only transports itself at its own expense to and from the workplace, but assumes primary responsibility for its own maintenance and repair.

“The strength of a love is always misjudged if we evaluate it by its immediate cause and not the stress that went before it, the dark and hollow space full of disappointment and loneliness that precedes all the great events in the heart’s history.”
― Stefan Zweig, The Burning Secret and Other Stories

Four years ago (Sept. 21, 2011), as the world watched in horror, Troy Anthony Davis was executed in Georgia, despite serious doubts about his guilt. Millions of people around the world protested his execution, making Davis one of the most high-profile death row inmates in American history. The “I am Troy Davis” campaign raised voices all across the country and the globe. Today, we are still Troy Davis, and we are gathering strength person by person and group by group.
Together we are working to fulfill Troy’s wish: to keep fighting this battle until we end the death penalty once and for all. For the past 40 years, the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty has done just that: fought to end the death penalty. That was the spirit that led the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty to launch the 90 Million Strong Campaign, bringing together a diverse group of national partner organizations representing millions of constituents.
They are joined by individual activists from across the country in the effort to bring an end this barbaric, archaic and ineffective practice. In memory of Troy Davis, with a firm commitment to the abolition of the death penalty, we ask you to be part of the movement and take the 90 Million Strong Pledge to #HaltAllExecutions today.
Thank you for all that you do.
Peace,

True friends are the ones you can express your purest soul-feelings to without fear of judgment; e.g. "I want to rip that bitch's hair out"
