There has been a lot of backlash in Latin American feminist spaces, mostly by cis women and nb peeps, but tbh he’s been GNC for a while. I read him in drag like someone who’s exploring his gender, and trying to figure out himself by doing new things. His platform is huge, so him doing this even if performative, opens up a space for younger folks to think and question gender and gender presentation, bc it’s almost guaranteed that it will reach lots of remote corners in Latin America.

When Ezra Miller, Harry Styles or “generic white boys” do this sort of GNC performance, they get praised by everyone for being transgressive enough to “break gender"It should be celebrated as well, when Latines do the same in their context

Bad Bunny being Latino makes a great deal of difference, specially in the world of reguetón where hypermasculinty and misogyny gets praised and generates hits. Having someone so mainstream, GNC, afrolatino visibly questioning and exploring gender, pffff it’s MONUMENTAL. Imagine being a young questioning kid, watching that and going -wait, can I do that???
