I finished the old self portrait, I don’t really like the mouth but it’s ok, I’m just happy I finished it :)

A silly drawing that I’m lowkey really proud of, like it’s so fucking stupid with the pose but like she’s so silly and stylish and I think I did good with the textures and the wrinkles and stuff like delectable let me gobble it up. Anyway. :)

If you can’t tell I’ve been feeling kinda shitty again (you can usually tell because I get more aggressive with my descriptions) so that’s fun, but drawing always helps so instead of fixing the homework problem I’m drawing to feel ok. Which sucks because I need to do an essay that I’ve had like three days to do in class. Unfortunately however I’m more prone to executive dysfunction ankle stealing when I’m tired and stressed, and I haven’t been sleeping well recently and goddamn I’ve been stressed (I participated in a school walkout/protest on Friday and then had to prepare for a last minute valentines party at my house the next day, i ended up sleeping for fifteen hours after the party) anyway info dumping over, hope you’re having a nice day :)

Recent notebook sketches, most of them inspired by Swedish/Scandinavian folklore cause I’ve been trying to research it recently and art is obv a fun way to process it. Also a little crane wives corner because I literally can’t help myself. Also ignore the scribbled out part, I was writing down some shit someone said in one of my classes cause I keep a book of quotes but I didn’t have it with me at the time.

WIP of a self portrait of me at like three years old lol

I wanna try and make a series called “People I’ve Known” and it’s just like a bunch of pencil drawing portraits of people throughout my life, the ones I still talk to, the ones I don’t talk to, the ones I never see, the ones who aren’t around anymore, the ones whose lives I know nothing about. Idk but as I was doing this I thought about the significance of doing a self portrait of myself as a young child first, because it’s true that I was really the first person I knew, and I think there’s value in that.

While I’ve definitely improved in my ability to draw portraits over the past year, I am by no means great so hopefully I’ll improve in that regard as well as just connecting to myself and better understanding how all the people and experiences in my life have shaped me to be who I am today.
