Confession:  I do think looks matter in this fandom. I’ve seen a ton of meta/fics about Dorian’s supposed alcoholism. But I never see any of that for Oghren, who is canonically an alcoholic, that we learn in convos was an alcoholic from a very young age and learned it from his mother. Is it because his symptoms are unattractive? Or is it *he’s* unattractive? I see fics/meta about Isolde abusing Alistair, but I never see anything about the fact that Branka literally tried to bash in Oghren’s head for misplacing her tongs. I see fics/meta exploring Zevran’s need to constantly flirt and excusing his lecherous behavior, but none of that for Oghren even though he couldn’t backpeddle fast enough when Sigrun tried to take him up on his offer and she tells him that she knows he’s really just terrified of women.
