“Carve into the flesh of those that are watching,” the stone wall wails.
Despite her fears the girl did what she was told. It is without a doubt that desperation often does not think of consequences. After all, a girl dying of an illness does not need to think too far into the future.
With a grating rumble, the face carved into the stone wall opens its eyes.
“Stone face,” the girl speaks, “I hear that you can grant immortal life.”
It’s unclear if a stone face can be truly happy to see anyone, as it’s smile has been craved in place forever to face the onslaught of elements. Surely, one would think what is craved in stone, would stay as such.
But this was no ordinary face carved into the stone wall. Not only that, it was also, extremely hungry. To much of the foolish girl’s shock, the stone face opened its jaws and a thick stone tongue rolls out.
Within seconds, the girl disappears from sight.
Legend says it was another soul, another face forever immortalized in stone.
