Rowan Lopes: Just a random townie I gave a little bit of a do-over. Sheâs fun :)
Ari isnât the only one getting along with the influential members of society.
Although unfortunately when he tries to call the number she gave him, nobody picks up.
Ari: Iâm sure sheâs just having a sleep in. Or maybe sheâs at work.
Tui: ARI, GET IN HERE THIS MINUTE.
Ari: Crap.
Ari is pretty pleased with himself for winning the affections of the most sought after girl in town.
Ari: Damn right I am.
Tui: And Iâll make him clean the entire house instead of going to football practice. Thatâs right. Oh! And no TV either. Iâve got this parenting thing down.
Ari sleeps off his late night
Mercury saw her coming and stopped on one of the benches by the side of the road. She strolled down to meet him, and pretended not to notice his wobbling lower lip.
âYou right?â Leticia asked.
Mercury nodded, and twisted his face into a scowl. âDid they say something when you walked past just then?â
Leticia started to say something, then stopped, surprised that he could have heard.
âDâyou want me to go squish them?â Mercury growled, âDaddy told me not to, but I think he would squish anyone who was mean to Mummy, so I think heâd be ok with it.â
Leticia grinned. âNah, theyâre not worth it. You might have to go to jail or something.â
Mercury grunted, or he tried to, but instead of throaty and manly, it came out more as a squeaky âhmmphâ. Leticia almost laughed, but stopped herself in time.
âWell seeya later then dumb-face.â
âBye gremlin girl.â
âUgly.â
Leticia pushed past the two kids standing outside the pool, biting her lower lip as she tried to ignore them. She peered down the street, not sure if she had been imagining things when she glanced in this direction a moment ago.
âMercury,â she called out, seeing her smaller cousin stomping off down the footpath. âWait up!â

âTheyâre not right though. I could have friends if I wanted them. Iâm...â
aww. bless his little cute heart <3
<3 :)
We got on to talking about other things after that, but as we went our separate ways afterwards, I couldnât resist bringing it up again.Â
âWhatever you decide, I expect to be kept fully informed of all the juicy detail.â
âJustice...â
âIâm proud of you little sister.â
- Justice
Theyâre not right though. I could have friends if I wanted them. Iâm not mean like them, I donât bully people, or steal their pencils, or say dumb things. I just like to be by myself. Thatâs not a reason to not like someone. Is it?
- Mercury
âWell thanks Justice,â Mara replied, her voice slightly deflated. I get the idea that she had really wanted someone to tell her she was being ridiculous, maybe give her a good slapping. She was quiet for a bit, and I waited as my words sunk in. âIs it really so strange to want to be faithful?â she piped up, âI just donât want to ruin things.â
âWell it depends,â I replied, âif being faithful means you resent Harley and feel miserable all the time, isnât that just as likely to ruin things?â
- Justice
I tried telling her to go away, but she just rolled her eyes and said, âI guess this is why nobody likes you.â I wanted to push her over, make her take it back, but then I remembered that Dad wasnât far away, and that he said to not hurt people, even if theyâre the dumbest people alive.Â
- Mercury
âNo, I donât Justice. Thatâs the last thing I want, thatâs why I told him to...â I laughed and put my hand on Maraâs knee.
âI think you should definitely do it,â She gawped at me, and I detected an outraged outburst on its way. âNo listen, youâve made this out to be some horrible monster of a thing, but thatâs your standard. You already told me Harley wasnât the one who set it, Iâm sure it isnât that big of a deal to him.â I had silenced her, but she still looked doubtful.
âYou can love more than one person at once Mara, trust me, I know. If this is what you want, donât just push it away, that never works.â I laughed again, but covered my mouth with my hand. âTo be honest I thought you were too much of a prude to even consider something like this, itâs quite a pleasant surprise really.â
- Justice
Next time Dad makes me go to the pool Iâm gonna follow Joe and sit inside. This totally dumb girl came up to me and made fun of my shorts. Her friend laughed and said I kinda looked like a burned marshmallow, which was totally wrong, but anyway then they both started poking me in the tummy and singing a stupid song. Dad was too busy in the spa so he didnât see.
- Mercury
âSo he promised to keep his distance, but if anything Iâm seeing him more than ever. Heâs always around at the house, doing âman thingsâ with Harley.â
âAdrien?â I was only half listening to Mara, the rest of my attention was fixed on the bartender across the balcony. âwait, why is that a problem again?â
âWe used to date, if you remember,â Mara gave me a hard look as if there was something I was missing.
âIâve dated half the guys in town, doesnât bother me.â I didnât really pay attention as the words made their way out, too busy correcting all the mistakes this guy was making as he served a pair of middle aged women their drinks. I thought for a second, âwait,â I looked at my little sister closely, âdonât tell me...â She gave me a helpless look, and I grinned. âGoody two shoes Mara wants to have an affair!â
