#Marvel #Marvel comics #Marvel 92131 #Spider-Man ‘94 #latest release #Kaine #Kaine Parker #Spider-Man #Peter Parker #I understand why they went this route considering that this is a mini series and they had to wrap things up quick #but I also can’t help but think that becoming one being with his cloner would be one of 616!Kaine’s worst nightmares hahaha #even still…I remain a complete sucker for Peter being just that good of a guy with such strength of character #that just being in proximity to him inspires other people to want to be better and believe that everyone has intrinsic worth/deserves a #chance to change #(fascinated by the choice to use the black suit’s design since the symbiote definitively exists in this universe #(they even reference the infamous «SHOCKER YOU CAN’T ESCAPE ME» episode in the letters section hahaha) but it looks cool aldjskh)#but yeah interesting choice but I at least still prefer it to when they turned Morlun into a baby that was really wild hahaha #anyway here’s hoping it won’t be too long until we see Kaine again (fingers crossed it’ll even be 616!Kaine)

#Marvel #Marvel comics #Marvel 92131 #Spider-Man ‘94 #latest release #Kaine #Kaine Parker #LOVE when authors allude to all the beef Kraven and Kaine have (going from the og Clone Saga to the Grim Hunt arc to Scarlet Spider vol. 2)#also appreciate how that whole entwined psyche thing could be a reference to Kaine’s original enhanced powers such as his precognition #(I miss those powers it was fun to watch him angst about it)#and I find it ironic how Peter claps eyes on Kaine’s new form and immediately jumps to «I don’t know what that is but it’s not human»#meanwhile Kaine’s waxing philosophical like the average book-accurate Frankenstein’s monster

#Marvel #Marvel comics #Marvel 92131 #Spider-Man ‘94 #latest release #Kaine #Kaine Parker #Spider-Man #Peter Parker #Kaine getting turned into a giant monster further compounding his issues with feeling like a crime against G-d and science LET’S GOOOO #but even in the midst of that I’m a little obsessed with JMD’s diction of «Kaine…somehow resurrected himself»#that it’s Kaine who pulls himself from back from biological waste discard pile each time even if what he comes back as is not pretty #(which could be a reflection of how he sees himself???)#but it’s also so fascinating to me that Peter switches up so quick to using «it» pronouns and dehumanization when Kaine’s first actions #once he’s ambulatory again are in their own way an attempt at justice #(I’m also a very simple person I love when comics discuss differing philosophies of what is just punishment and when heroes clash over it)#particularly a fan of Peter’s approach of «yeah he’s a horrible person (but I wasn’t always so great either so) something as permanent #as death is off the table»

#Marvel #Marvel comics #Marvel 92131 #Spider-Man ‘94 #latest release #Kaine #Kaine Parker #Mary Jane Watson #Mary Jane with a baseball bat reminds me of that one time she beat up the Chameleon in Spectacular Spider-Man (Vol. 1/1988) no. 245 #and then of course the more direct reference to Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1/1963) no. 50’s Spider-Man No More #but yeah also very on brand for Kaine (and Matteis’ writing) for Kaine to break in and just start monologging #and there’s just something to be said about how Peter’s for love for Mary Jane is so strong that it comes through even his DNA #that and I’m always a fan of Kaine realizing #after ages of thinking he’s only so much worthless and discarded material #that he can grow and that he’s worth more than the sum of his parts

#Marvel #Marvel comics #Marvel 92131 #Spider-Man ‘94 #latest release #Kaine #Kaine Parker #Mary Jane Watson #92131!Kaine is officially more considerate than 616!Kaine (despite still doing a b&e into a woman’s bedroom #and then proceeding to start yelling)#616!Kaine would have managed to punch a hole through that window for sure instead of taking the time to open it conventionally #and as much as I love what seems to be a nod to the og Clone Saga where sometimes it felt like Kaine ended up spending more time with MJ #than Peter and obviously this is a very intense moment amidst Kaine’s identity crisis/unraveling/self-discovery #but this is also just almost really funny for me to consider from MJ’s point of view #(this continuity’s MJ has some idea about cloning but still #imagine you’re up one night wondering if your bf is ok only for someone who looks almost exactly like him #but with +50% mass at least and demonstrably considerable other issues just crawled in through your bedroom window and started hollering)#(I love them both so much I hope we really do get something significant with the both of them next issue)#the only reason why I can think of Kaine opened that window as opposed to continuing the time-honored tradition of wrecking Parker property #is because he literally just got all of Peter’s memories downloaded so the knowledge that it’s unlocked/how Pete usually gets in #is fresh in his mind hahaha

#Marvel #Marvel 92131 #Marvel comics #Spider-Man ‘94 #latest release #Kaine #Kaine Parker #(and yeah that’s Peter in the giant cocoon there (which feels very The Other to me tbh))#but it’s almost funny to me how much they pack Kaine’s classic character beats into what relatively little time on panel he has #They’ve got him having a complicated envious to practically loathing relationship with Peter #(who still barely even knows Kaine exists at this point)#an even more complicated relationship with his disturbingly paternalistic creator #an identity crisis as intense as a newly formed black hole #and he’s plagued by The Visions™️ !!! Love it when Kaine’s already having some sort of dramatic break and then he gets hit with some vision

#Marvel #Marvel comics #Marvel 92131 #Spider-Man ‘94 #latest release #Kaine #Kaine Parker #Kaine having a supremely messed up relationship with his creator/self-imposed father-figure remains constant #across the universes — where he’s treated as distinctly as other/less than completely human + a unique combo of peak #scientific discovery and grossly failed experiment #but otherwise what a fascinating divergence if I’m reading this right #this rather neatly sidesteps the whole concept of Peter having an «evil clone» created from solely his DNA #but man that tension between Kaine and Peter (with Peter having to confront how someone who moonlighted as an assassin #could come from his genetic material and Kaine growing to accept that Peter’s «goodness» isn’t just some completely unreachable ideal)#was my favorite aspects of this dynamic #Peter having to deal with a clone of Morlun (if this Morlun ends up mucking up Peter’s life half as much as he did in 616)#could be fascinating but I doubt there will be enough panel space to really dive into it over the length of this run #but eh Mr. DeMatteis can usually pack quite a punch in his works so I’m pretty cool with waiting and seeing where this goes #(plus you know me I’m pretty much always just happy to see Kaine on panel again hahaha)
