the beginning of the end | scarlett&logan

New year, new Logan; that was what he chose to see this as. A new him with all of the perks and a few less shortcomings. His smiles were just as forced but twice as vicious, canines angry points, yellowed by nicotine and whitened with magic, his new morning routine now that he left the dormitories barefaced. After last yearâs run ins it seemed he hardly had anything to prove anymore. He was quite nearly expelled, tried to fuck up a pureblood and put a knife in Gryffindorâs golden boy, passed his coursework by a hairâs width. And over summer he found that with freedom came comfort, perhaps not quite what every other student in this godforsaken place was blessed with experiencing, but comfort enough. Heâd held a hand or two a few times, had grown to appreciate solid weight on his chest as it heaved with tired breaths, the silence of falling asleep by someone. Where last year he was a scared little punk, now he was a fucking nightmare. Some unstoppable juggernaut ready to fuck up some faces and go out with a bang. He was toxic but he wasnât poisoning himself, not anymore
âOi, Scar!â He bellowed down the hallway, deep voice booming and resonating in broad waves over the gaggle of underclassmen that he was towering over for the moment. âHold the fuck up, arsewipe!â
Scarlett was a good way into her seventh year now, and she still hadnât heard a word from Flik. She didnât even know why she was still holding out, but she was sure that by now she would have gotten another owl or something. Scarlett wasnât the type to cling, but even though she went on a full-fledged bender the entire summer, she was still hoping that he would be at least gathering his things from his little office where they spent a decent amount of quality time in. But no-there was nothing. It was as if he didnât exist anymore. And Scarlett was done with it. She decided that she wasnât going to hang onto the old Scarlett anymore and that meant letting go of the things that made her, well, her. She did her makeup less dramatically, started toning down her outfit, and even though it was a struggle, she was trying to stick to a weed-based binge this time. And it hadnât been that long, but for what it was worth it was working for the time being.
Logan on the other hand, got even more intense it felt like. When he called out to her from down the hall he screamed instead of silently stalked up to her and she couldnât help but smirk at that. She stopped, turned, and looked up at him. âWhatâs fucking up?â
