good smut is really a character study and that is final. i need it to be about vulnerability i need it to be about trust or lack thereof and most of all i need it to be emotional agony. thats what sex is for
#EXACTLY#been reading more romance lately and figuring out what Works For Me in that genre#particularly re: smut which can be hit or miss#this post is exactly how i feel about shadowheart by laura kinsale which i read earlier this year#because the sex in that book is alllllll about the shifting power dynamics between the two main characters#as well as their vulnerability and growing trust with each other#and it completely altered my brain chemistry and i am now far less tolerant of poorly written and/or unnecessary sex scenes#same with a lady awakened by cecilia grant!!#text post#writing
