Unfortunately, because of poverty, indigenous people in Argentina can’t even make their fight for their land and for their identity recognisable to the western world, so in the west there are no calls for boycotting Argentina and its occupation of indigenous land. Argentina with such a president and policies and acts by the population (the fake mob lynchings of African players like Mbappe and Diomande) should never have belonged in the World Cup in the first place. Unfortunately the global south wasn’t strong enough to call for a boycott, some of my western friends who support indigenous people didn’t even know the colours of the flag of the indigenous people of Argentina!
the good thing is that it was nice to see so many people supporting Cabo Verde, especially people from the lusophony like Brazil, Portugal and Timor-Leste, and people from the African continent. We are so tiny and our diaspora tends to mix with Portuguese and Angolan communities, so we’re mostly invisible. The people’s support for us showed the world of football how people are exhausted of Argentina and its players constant racism. Im just worried about repercussions that Argentina’s black and indigenous population might face, because it’s common for racist attacks to increase when Argentines feel disrespected or humiliated….

I wanted other people to be able to read what you told me, though, and to find out more (as I will) starting by reading your messages about Cabo Verde, its diaspora, and about racism and anti-blackness in Argentina.

First, because you created a blog just to badmouth Argentina, and second, because you're deliberately ignoring the fact that most Argentines have great respect for Cape Verde and that the Cape Verdean diaspora in Argentina is significant. In Argentina, there have almost never been racist attacks against the Black or Indigenous population that were not carried out by the police or by groups hired by business owners and landowners.
Nor was there a genocide against Black people: the percentage decline in the Black population is mainly due to mass immigration in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The claim about the Nazis is also a lie: there was no large influx of Nazis, and those who did come had to do so under a secret identity. In fact, the majority of the population with German surnames (those so-called “Nazis”) are of Jewish origin.
I’m not going to deny that racism exists in Argentina because I know firsthand what it feels like to have your identity denied because of your background or skin color—my family isn’t literally white because we have Mapuche ancestry. But I’m also not going to let some idiot spread lies about my country and think they have the right to say whatever they want. Especially not someone who pretends to be Cape Verdean with a blank blog.
