How I feel every time I get out from the psych ward's isolation:
How I feel when someone asks me have I ever tried ECT (Electroconvulsive therapy):
How I feel like coming home after being in a psych ward where there's three meals a day plus two snack times:
When someone who knows I'm having problems with eating, suggest me to eat to my problems/feelings:
... and how I feel like responding to that:
How I feel after I've gotten out from the mental hospital and arriving home but not knowing what to do next:
How I feel when I'm in a mental hospital and I learn to appreciate the small things:
How I feel my therapist must think when I tell her about my psychotic thoughts:
How I feel when I'm extremely paranoid:
How I feel when I read the list of side effects of my new medication:
How I feel when I'm in a psych ward and there's actually a good meal for once:
Taking a Break from Questions & Asks on Hiatus!
I am struggling at the moment with my own problems and thus, I hardy cannot answer any questions because my own life is troublesome. So, I’m not answering to your questions for the time being and that’s why I have taken off the ask box! I hope you won’t get offended by this! I am not a mental health professional, so I don’t have the needed coping skills and right now, at the moment, I can’t give my all to answer to your questions. I know there are questions in my inbox but I just can’t answer them right now as well as I’m hoping for... I have prolonged this message for so long but now I have no choice but to take a break from all of the messages I have received. I have dozens of questions in my inbox and they will be in the inbox for the time I feel I can answer to them. I will not delete them, but don’t wait for the answer to them any time soon! I will try to answer to the messages waiting in my inbox as best as I can, when I can but I cannot promise that it will happen during this break time! I need to take some time to myself! I’ve intended this blog to be a safe place but at the moment it is not good for me to take burden about other people’s problems. I hope you all will understand and are doing as well as you possibly can! I appreciate all of my followers and I will still try to post confessions no matter what, because that’s why I first created this blog. I may put on the ask box some day, but not right now... Thank you for understanding! :) ~ Schizophrenia Confessions
Hey, so lately when I'm lying in bed at night I hear something like a radio or a Tv playing at another room or even another rooftop. It isn't even loud, I can't understand what it says, it's like that someone murmuring. I'm so concerned, that I have schizophrenia. What should I do? Sorry for my English
Hi!Have you tried to rationalize the voices you hear? Could there be a rational explanation where these voices are coming from?Whether the voices are real or not, “just” because you hear voices it doesn’t mean you have schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a spectrum of symptoms – for example, delusions, hallucinations, etc. The symptoms and signs of schizophrenia will vary, depending on the individual, since schizophrenia is very complex mental illness. Most often, you have to have at least two of the common symptoms of schizophrenia and they need to last more than six months, to get a schizophrenia diagnosis. What also comes to my mind is a thing called ”parasomnia”, which means sleep related hallucinations. They are imagined events that seem very real. They are mainly visual but they may also involve your senses of sound, touch, taste and smell and they may even involve a sense of motion. It’s easy to confuse sleep related hallucinations with a state of dreaming and you may not be sure are you awake or asleep. Parasomnia generally occur as you are about to fall asleep (hypnagogic) or as you are just waking up (hypnopompic).I can’t diagnose you and I cannot reliably say what you might be having, because I’m not a mental health professional! If this thing you are experiencing is bothering you, you could go and have talk with your doctor/general practitioner (GP) who can guide you to see a mental health professional (like a psychiatrist or a therapist). You can tell them about your experiences and maybe they can give you some kind of answer, which could give a peace of mind.Take care! :)~ Schizophrenia Confessions
"scared of being on clozapine" girl again: My episodes are getting worse and more frequent; I just got a new hallucination yesterday. I see a triangle man, Tuesday the female demon, and Five O Clock the shadow man, shadow people that come up from the ground, rats, bloody caterpillars, and random strawberries in my vision. They all try to drag my mind away to a dark place, and they torture me all of the time :( I feel as though a stay in the hospital would do me well, but I am apprehensive :(
Hey!Your hallucinations sounds pretty rough! All of the good decisions that starts from you tends to have the best outcome, for example going into a mental hospital. Going there doesn’t always have to be involuntary, absolutely not! You can go there voluntarily too.I understand that you are apprehensive about going to the hospital but in the end, it is not that bad. Mental health professionals can suggest you to go to a hospital or starting a new medication, but you are the expert about your own feelings. If you feel a stay in the mental hospital would do you well, you should bring the subject up with your doctor. Even going there can feel apprehensive, it could be a good thing for you in the end. People are tried to be released from a mental hospital as soon as possible, so they are not being held there forever. Like I said, going to a hospital isn’t that bad… The point of hospitalization is to help people, not to torment them.I hope this helps. Take care! :)~ Schizophrenia Confessions
Hello, this is the "scared of being on clozapine" girl. I am scared of being on clozapine because it apparently makes you gain a lot of weight and it decreases your white blood cell count drastically. It just worries me because Clozaril is such a powerful medicine; I hope the side effects are not going to be too terrible!!!!
Hi!Like I wrote on my previous message to you, reading all of the side effects can feel terrifying, but medication companies must list everything up just in case. There’s always a possibility you won’t get any severe side effects like there’s a chance you could get them, but the statistics are usually in your favor. It’s true that not all medications suits for everyone, but how can you know if you don’t try it? If a certain medication would not cause more benefits than harm, they would be taken off the shelves. It usually takes about two to four weeks for the side effects to subside and the medication’s befits to start showing. The waiting can feel horrible, but sometimes it’s more than worth it!I encourage you to talk with your doctor before you start using the medication. Ask every possible question you can about the subject if it makes you to feel better about trying this medication, because at least you should try it – otherwise you can’t know how it affects you. And in the best situation, it can help you tremendously!I hope this helps. Take care! :)~ Schizophrenia Confessions
Have you met people who are anti-medication? I know a guy who went through depression and has PTSD and is anti-medication, always saying if he can get through his troubles on his own, then everyone else should be able to do the same. It always upsets me, because I've had doctors suggest medications for my depression and panic attacks, but I just end up thinking I'm weak and shouldn't take them. Do you know what I could say to him?
Hey!Yes, I have met people who are against taking medications. There can be many reasons why someone doesn’t want to take medication (some people feels that taking meds is too restrictive, for example). In the end, being against medication or in favor of using them is everyone’s own choice… Of course there are always people who doesn’t want to use meds but they should not try to drag other people into their own way of thinking. Because like choosing not to use medication is a choice as much as someone wanting to use medication.Using medication does not mean you are weak in any way! Don’t think that for a second! The right medication can help you tremendously. It is your own decision and your right to use medication if you want. No one should tell you to do otherwise just because they are against of something – you can’t really tell a vegan to eat meat if it’s a person’s own choice not to eat meat, for example. It is your own choice to use medication and no one should question that! Some people want to believe they can conquer their mental illnesses without any kind of medication – sometimes they can but usually medication helps. If you feel the medication is helping you with your depression and panic attacks, you shouldn’t let this guy’s opinions affect you too much. You can start by telling him how his behavior is making you feel. Don’t argue with him about that he thinks you should not use medication and maybe you think he should use medication, for either way, it’s everyone’s own choice. Besides, why say anything to him, except that he should respect your decision to use meds. Like I said, that doesn’t make you weak in any way and it is your own choice! You have every right to make your own choices!I hope this helps. Take care! :)~ Schizophrenia Confessions
Does schizoid personality disorder really belong to the schizophreniaspectrum? Because I never had delusions and only have auditory hallucinations when I am reeeeeeally sleep deprived~ I am basically just confused haha. Thanks for helping me :3
Hi!Well, schizophrenia is a separate mental illness, which is categorized under psychotic disorders. Schizoid personality disorder is a personality disorder. The name “schizoid” can resemble the name “schizophrenia” but they are actually two different mental illnesses. When talking about the spectrum of schizophrenia, it usually means everything related to the illness itself, like symptoms, etc., not other mental health problems which names are similar to the word “schizophrenia”. I’m being a bit painstaking here, I know.Hallucinations can be a symptom of many mental illnesses or physical conditions and there are many causes of hallucinations, including; some psychiatric disorders (such as schizophrenia, psychosis, mania, bipolar disorder and psychotic depression), delirium, dementia or severe physical illness. Sleep deprivation, low blood sodium (Hyponatremia) or low blood sugar (Hypoglycemia) can also cause hallucinations to some people. Voices may also be associated with high fevers or substance abuse (like drugs or alcohol). So, hallucinations can be a symptoms of many other mental illnesses or physical conditions…I hope this answered your question. Take care! :)~ Schizophrenia Confessions
my friends make jokes about how they are crazy and insane but i know that none of them have any mental illness, yet they know i have hallucinations, delusions, (etc) and continue to say stuff like that. How can i tell them that what they are saying makes me feel like my experiences are just a joke without them getting angry
Hi!Sometimes, people make fun of serious subjects like mental health problems. Even if this is harmless to them, their jokes can bring up all sorts of feelings in you. You should try to explain to your friends how their joking is making you feel. Maybe their joking is their way to deal with their own ignorance about the mental health subject. But that still doesn’t make it right… They should get it at some point that you don’t like their jokes. You should speak up to your friends and say how their jokes are making you feel – don’t worry too much whether they are getting angry about it, because you have every right to say how you feel. If they gets angry for it, it’s their problem, not yours. So, I suggest you to just speak up! They might not know how their “innocent” joking is actually making you feel. Hopefully they will eventually stop making jokes about mental health problems, at least around you.I hope this helps. Take care! :)~ Schizophrenia Confessions
