my granddad passed away 20 years ago next friday, and tonight our team, ars/enal, won the league. the last time was 22 years ago, when he was here and he took me, as a 5 year old, to this stadium to celebrate. tonight is for him

Some chucklehead must have changed their mind and dropped it here instead of walking two whole steps to put it back. Dolores can fix that. "I didn't think you were doing bad." She replies as she makes her way over to the R&B section. "Hell, if you put half the effort into school that you do skating, you'd probably graduate valedictorian." B after B after B flips through her fingers like contact cards on the rolodex she still keeps. "Dedication pays off." You've got this.

"into school? hell no, lady." that earns dolores a snort, lifting her hand away from the board so that her amusement won't make her slip in any way. effort into school? "i'm dedicated. i don't gotta be dedicated to school to make somethin' of myself. some people are like that, but i ain't. i got my board, i'm plenty dedicated to that. an' that's alright."

lo' looks over, "if you like that one, you can take it. have it. we got billy comin' out our ears." but it's said warmly; she's grateful for what dolores did for her, she valued it. it's a hella badass job she's got going there.

Dolores hums in response as she wanders between the aisles, eyes roving past album title after title. Although they have radically different tastes, she can appreciate the variety in the collection Kaspar's accrued over the years. He and Lola both, really. The Kings know good sound. "So what's been going on in your world?" Casually she thumbs through the new releases, just looking while she talks, "Anything new?"

lola glances up across the store -- she's sure that dolores will find something, given her and her dad's affinity for any and every genre, artist.. the crates heave with records, all lovingly separated by dividers made by the two over dinner, or on dad-daughter night (NO CHRIS LEE ALLOWED, TOMATO TOMATO). she smiles, goes back to what she's working on, looking up once more as a couple of regulars schlep in.

"mmno. not really. jus' practisin' for the games. sort of.. all i got goin' on now." lola shrugs - perhaps she was overthinking it all, taking it too seriously, but she was going to win this year. it was a non-option to come second, or not place. she just wasn't 100% confident in herself yet. "don't worry, i'm not doin' nothin' bad or nothin'."
