The graph that they showed was monitoring his blood pressure and heart rate - we can see that when he’s talking about the mind flayer it speeds up because he was scared
But we’ve seen a heart rate/blood pressure monitor:
These are readings from an EEG machine, which monitors brain activity
Electroencephalography (EEG) is an electrophysiological monitoring method to record electrical activity of the brain. It is typically noninvasive, with the electrodes placed along the scalp, although invasive electrodes are sometimes used such as in electrocorticography. EEG measures voltage fluctuations resulting from ionic current within the neurons of the brain.[1] In clinical contexts, EEG refers to the recording of the brain’s spontaneous electrical activity over a period of time,[1] as recorded from multiple electrodes placed on the scalp. Diagnostic applications generally focus either on event-related potentials or on the spectral content of EEG. The former investigates potential fluctuations time locked to an event like stimulus onset or button press. The latter analyses the type of neural oscillations (popularly called “brain waves”) that can be observed in EEG signals in the frequency domain.
Just like El, they are monitoring Will’s brain activity. (Notice the men and suits are there for this visit). Just like El, his readings are NOT normal. In fact, his graph starts to look very much like hers as she concentrates her power on hurting the cat (which she gives up on doing at the very end)

They both start to shrink and compress. El’s waves compress when she’s concentrating on hurting the cat. Will’s compresses the more he thinks about his vision and what the Shadow Monster wants. Will’s at some point goes off of the freakin’ chart though, not sure about that part. I looked into what is considered normal for an EEG graph
