Imagine the surreal insanity of being Irina Petrova and just hanging out having a hobby that you're very intense about and then you notice something weird and then all at once your name is one of the most uttered in history, by total accident. In the movie universe they describe her as a "radio telescope enthusiast" she does not even do this professionally. And suddenly everything is Petrova line, Petrova frequency, Petrova wavelength, Petrovascope, Petrova Task Force, Petrova problem. And you're like man. I have a day job.
ive invented (note: dubious claim) something i call the bear diet which is mostly fruits and vegetables with fish as the main protein source and something like once a month you eat a few hyperprocessed foods of your liking because that is when you, the bear, raid a dumpster in the suburbs
after the hyperprocessed foods, do you take tranquilizers to simulate getting captured by animal control and returned to the wild?
i would settle for melatonin gummies but well. knock yourself out
Darth vader in comics is wild because he's evil but like. While palpatine and tarkin and other empire high ranking officials were being like I shall genocide countless cultures and races and subjugate planets with force and imprison a shitload of people to fuel the empire's military expansion. The Republic is gone and an authoritarian dictatorship will take its place
And then Vader is like I'm going to build a SITH PALACE in a lava planet I'm going to CURSE my underling so he has to fight for eternity as a half physical, half ghost state. I'm going to podrace into a SANDSTORM, I'm going to inadvertently save a civilization by battling a MASSIVE shark monster while riding a epic black horse creature, I'm going to battle palpatine à la a kaiju battle, both mind controlling a beast to fight in our stead. Meanwhile also sobbing over padme whenever given the chance,
in a field of realistic villains, Darth Vader is the saturday morning cartoon villain
“do you really wanna be on medication for the rest of your life” if you knew me unmedicated you’d want me to be on medication for the rest of my life too
From Beth Revis's book "Someone Who Loves You"
You are an unreliable narrator because your coping mechanisms for your deep-seated trauma forbid you from acknowledging the reality of the situation. I am an unreliable narrator because I sincerely have no idea what the fuck is going on.
little Leia and her momma Breha!
I’m hardly the first to point this out, but it’s sort of strange how unusual the character of Leia is in the sense that there isn’t even the implication that anyone notices her age or gender or that she has to prove herself in any way to other characters or to the audience. Like, she doesn’t have to fight for a chance to do any of the stuff she does, no one’s surprised she can use a blaster or command troops, but she also doesn’t have to lean into extreme aggression or hypermasculine energy to gain that respect. She’s blunt, but no blunter than Han; she has some intense reactions to certain situations, but no more than Han or Luke. No one seems scared of her, but everyone seems to respect her. She wears more masculine(ish) military-type attire when it’s the practical thing to do, but also seems to choose dresses or feminine-leaning things when she’s able to and the outfit changes aren’t some “Wow, the manly lady cleans up nice” sort of moment; it’s just a thing she’s wearing. She’s soft when she can be and a snarky hardass when she needs to be, and neither of these things is seen as being out-of-character or a surprising shift by those around her.
And it’s crazy that we don’t see more of that? Like, how am I ten years younger than the first Star Wars film and I’m struggling to come up with other examples of female characters who just exist as competent in their own universe without their competence being a plot point or something to be amazed/frightened by or something requiring either very masculine energy or such feminine energy that any aggression or competence in “masculine” things is seen as a funny juxtaposition? I’m not saying no other characters exist like that; I’m sure they do. But it does seem like there’s often some level surprise the audience or another character is meant to feel when Girl Good at Stuff, and that literally just doesn’t exist in the original Star Wars Trilogy. I mean, maybe some audience members feel surprised all on their own, but the film did not intend for the audience feel surprised.
(Now, how Carrie was actually treated during the filming of those movies and the intent behind certain story and wardrobe choices made for the character of Leia is a totally different story. But what we actually get in the end product is really unique and solid despite some people’s best efforts to be weird and sexist.)
RIP to Star Wars Insider magazine :(

I took my little brother (autistic, mostly non verbal) out and he was using his voice keyboard to tell me something, and this little boy (maybe 4 or 5?) heard him and asked me "Is he a robot??" I tried to explain to him that no, he isn't a robot, he just communicates differently, but my darling brother was in the background max volume "I am robot I am robot I am robot I am robot"
My little brother insisted if I was going to post about him, he wanted a cut of the "profits". When I explained to him that Tumblr isn't monetized, and is pretty pointless, he and my older brother pointed out that he'd still be bringing me "fame and notoriety" if the post got "big". So we agreed, if the post hit 10k notes, which seemed extremely farfetched and silly at the time, I'd take my little brother out for sushi (his favorite food) and let him eat as much as he wants.
I guess God wanted the little robot to enjoy some sushi 🍣 🥲
