I’m posting this so you can all point and laugh at me I’m at the rink there’s an hour between my practice and the free skate I’ve decided to stay for and since i don’t have a car I’m just sitting in the bleachers but i need something from the supply shop but I’m so embarrassed at even needing to ask a question and the idea of trying to open the door or having to stop in front of the door to check the schedule is humiliating so I’m ten (10) feet away from the door checking the hours on applemaps but the app keeps crashing so I’m about to crash out!!!!

I recently mentioned to someone that my favorite forward is kadirova and they responded “what about hilary knight?” and it’s just kinda like asking why someone’s favorite bible character isn’t jesus. like yeah we all love jesus from the bible obviously but i think some stories are better even if not as iconic

Kadirova just had such a great story this year though??

- she was almost a total unknown, drafted 45th out of 48

- she obviously works very hard and her coaches have said that she did her homework on how to be successful in the PWHL

- She ends up one of the top forwards on her team and does pretty well league-wide (and it's only her first year! I would be surprised if she doesn't absolutely dominate next season!)

- her teammates and coaches obviously love her

- has the best hair and the best cellys in the league

- managed to become a fan favorite personality without saying a goddamn word

And yeah, Hilary Knight won an olympic gold medal and brought in a ton of new viewership and made a huge impact on the game in the larger landscape of sports in general and that's very nice and all, but being a Kadirova fan is just so much FUN.

I skated for almost six hours nonstop yesterday my calves are kiiiiiilllling me

#modern day prometheus #new routine is unfortunately long ass skate once a week instead of getting to do two shorter skates twice a week like usual #I’m saddened but also it takes me sooooo long to get to and from the rink I’m a little relieved at the schedule change #also because i kinda have to babysit an adult relative who is in recovery and lately I’ve just been having to cancel ice time so i can watch #but now that it’s only once a week it’s a little easier to navigate i can just bring him with me and keep an eye on him or make sure someone #else is with him we’ll see how it goes bc last time i had to leave him alone for two hours from after i left but before someone else came #home and it ended up being a disaster so we’ll see

new hockey rule i just made up both teams share the same penalty box and they have to put cameras and mics in there

They used to share a box and it was not pretty which is why the league mandated that teams build separate boxes in their arenas.

What kicked all that off was (surprise) a Leaf and a Hab starting a fight in the box in 1963. Shortly after that the Leafs installed separate boxes and the Canadiens did too. The league made it mandatory only from the 1964-65 season onwards as far as I know
