Sam was glad that The Bean was open all year round, that way when she needed her caffeine fix during the summer she could still keep her usual late morning/early afternoon routine of taking Loki out for a run and then completely undermining it with an iced coffee and a muffin. Her faithful German Shepard was waiting for her outside, sat in the shade of one of the outdoor parasols and helping himself to a drink of his own that Sam had set down for him, so she was getting her coffee to go so she could take it out to sit with him.
She ordered her usual (an iced caramel and brown sugar latte, a blueberry muffin, and a pup cup), eyeing the barista for a moment and trying to figure out if she was getting a vibe or not, and waited for her order to be ready. Sam didn't really have any other plans for the day, maybe curl up on the sofa with a comic book or twelve, maybe find a movie to watch...
Sam was pulled from her thought as her order was called, grinning at the barista who was definitely giving her a vibe now, confirmed by the glance at her cup and the number scrawled on the side of it, and headed out of the coffee shop to sit next to Loki. She fondly ruffled the top of his head, shaking her head a little as he gave that derpy smile that only German Shepards could.
"You ready for your pup cup dude? You and I both deserve a treat after that run."
As she held out the cup, she heard a voice from behind her, jumping a little and turning her head towards it.
He had genuinely been a few people behind Sam when she was ordering food and her beverage, and if there was one thing that Jeremy did best- it was sit and watch. He was mindful of everything around him so he could take it all in and watch events unfold and comprehend them truthfully and non-biasedly. Once he ordered his chai, he held the warm cup in his hands, smiling at how warm they got. It was the one delight he had.
The interation between the barista and Sam made Jeremy want to talk to her. Maybe he was totally lost and needed some sort of mentor. "I'm so sorry," he interrupted, once outside to try to make a light conversation with Sam. "You've clearly got game, and I just--"
Hesitation.
"I feel like I'm utterly pathetic at flirting after my first rejection a bit ago. I gotta know how you just so... easily got that phone number."
